So I have a question....I have called and spoken with four different cast members and all four cast members gave me a different answer, so I am looking to the experts for assistance.

Yes, I know that I cannot get an exact answer today, but estimation based upon experience would be great.

I want to return to WDW in December 2009.
First CM said I can book exactly 1 year in advance.
Second CM said you cannot book a 2009 vacation until 2009.
Third CM said 550 days in advance.
Fourth CM said late summer (August) after 2009 package information is released.

So, how early can you really book for a future vacation?



Second, approximately when should pricing for 2009 be released? Obviously not before you can book the actual package, but I would like to know when that will be.


Third...I have a feeling that Disney will change the Dining Plan again for 2009. Going by the most recent changes, I am not sure it will be a great deal anymore. It might be cheaper to pay out of pocket for a few meals instead of being on the dining plan for the entire time. About when do you think the 2009 DDP information should be released?

The fourth CM was right. You can book PACKAGES when the 2009 prices are released. This usually occurs sometime around late August. However, if you really want to book before then, you can book a room only ressie at the current rates, then once the new rates roll out, they'll adjust your remaining balance. Now how early you can book a room only ressie, I'm not sure of. You should call and find out .

As stated above, sometime in Late August.

Sometime after the 2009 rates are released, but definitely before January 2009.

Thanks for the information. Unfortuantely, the CMS gave me the same answers for room-only as well. It is not a problem, I can wait to book it, I just wanted to know when I could.

Las time I tried this one, it was 499 days prior to your check-out date, but you can call in and book a room-only 499 days from the check-in date, and then call back each day and add on. That is a really bad way to do it, because for a December trip, the package rates for the next year come out at the same time as early December room-only becomes avail.

The 2008 packages came out on August 5, 2007, in 2006, they came out on August 6, so keep an eye out for them then. That is hard to do and it lead me to book several trips for 2007 while waiting for my Dec 2008 packages to come out.
