I dont know who gets this on ITV and who doesnt, but all week the shows are about a couple buying a villa in Orlando and a phone in competition to win a villa. Its on here in the East at 5.30pm. Maybe of some interest to someone
i was a bit upset that they did not ring me and tell me that i had won a house in florida have to wait now untill i get those 6 numbers but i still can look forword to gooing at xmas
PaulH
My phone rang at 5.10pm and i thought they were phoning to check i was in LOL but...........it was only my roofer and tiling friend whos coming to check my underfelting as i have a leak under one of the windows today. For 15 glorious seconds i thought i had won.
I found the programme interesting, but in my opinion those buying to rent are entering into a very saturated market without perhaps researching as much as perhaps they could. Jealous that i didnt win.........NOT MUCH (me lie)
I watched it too, green with envy was an understatement!
I also entered the competition, i was rubbing my lucky heather (dont think its that lucky) for 1 hour, but i didnt win!!! Ahhhh!!!!
Just think how I feel - the woman who won lives in the same town! I'd have felt better if it had been the other end of the country - so near yet so far.....
If it makes you all feel better, the lady that won is in for a bit of a shock once she eventually gets her home built. The overheads are enormous (even without a mortgage) and she will have to take a crash course in marketing to make it break even - making any money on it is virtually impossible - as Olaf says, the market is fairly well saturated.
Speaking as a villa owner (albeit with a hefty mortgage!!) we have found renting out our home extremely hard work. Don't get me wrong - we did our homework beforehand and love our home and Orlando enough to put in the extra time and effort.
I just hope that the lucky winner is given plenty of guidance to stop her new home becoming a weight around her financial neck. Believe me the builders and realtors will only stick around long enough for the ink to dry on the contracts.
And yes........ I am extremely jealous too
Just out of interest, I was told that Granada had received a total of 846,000 telephone calls (at £1.00 each) from entrys into the competition for a £140,000 house
I think the TV companies make quite a revenue from calls for various competitions now - they run so many and with calls coming in at a premium rate, this must be a very lucrative market.
It's amazing that shows that give away an enourmas prize like Who Wants to be a millionaire actaully make profit even after giving the massive prizes away, from the phone call charges
