"I want my soup!" An October 2010 Trip Report UPDATED 7/9 2012 PTR STARTED!

Hi guys! Is there anybody out there (except you Rora?) :)

It's a busy time of year! Work has been extra slow, it wasn't this slow around this time last year so I don't know what happened, but it is what it is. I've been busy getting last minute presents and wrapping. I did almost all of my shopping online (from work mostly lol). I'm pretty much done, I just have to get Kris's parents something and order a stubhub gift card for my sister. I may have to go to a store for Kris's parents gift. I was hoping to avoid the stores altogether lol. But I have no idea what to get them and Kris isn't being very helpful!

He gets one of his presents today, early Christmas gift. I would tell you what it is but he reads this sometimes and I don't want to spoil the surprise!

So let's finally get to the highlights and lowlights, shall we?

Highlights
  • seeing first time reactions from Adam and Alex. That was the first time I'd been to Disney World with people who had never been there before.
  • it was my first real vacation and trip to Disney World with Kris so this is one I'll never forget. :)
  • my sister was there! We do a lot of things together but vacationing with her is not something we do very often so that was a treat!
  • that my friends Katie and Annemarie were in Florida as well. It was so much fun spending my birthday with them. That being said...
  • spending my birthday in Disney World! So many CMs wished me a happy birthday, I loved it!
  • Chef Mickey's. That was a first time experience for me and I absolutely loved it. I want to go back!
  • 3 words: Cheddar Cheese Soup
  • Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There aren't enough great things I can say about it. Universal did an amazing job, the ride is like no other I've ever been on, and that day as a whole was just a blast. Next visit there, I'm getting a wand and a robe and casting spells on people all day long. ;)
  • Ohana, so yum!
  • Indiana Jones stunt show. My sister getting picked as an extra was priceless.
  • American Idol. Yes, it surprises me too. I hate the tv show but the Disney version was quite enjoyable and a lot of fun!
  • Jellyrolls. U2 & NKOTB anyone?

Lowlights
  • heat and exhaustion make everybody cranky! I could've done without stupid arguments but that's part of any Disney vacation.
  • no MNSSHP. I would've rather done that than HHN.
  • DHS rides breaking down all day long! No RnRC all day and a 2+ hour wait because TSM went down? Never again, please and thank you DHS!
  • with a party of 5, you can't please everybody! I'm used to going to the parks multiple times on Disney trips, as well as certain rides more than once. Couldn't do it this trip. Too many of us and everything felt rushed. Adding to that...
  • Almost no down time. Next trip I plan on spending a full week so I can have time to enjoy the resort & pool more, maybe take in one of the waterparks.

That's all folks! I was anticipating this trip so much and can't believe it's been over 2 months since I've been back. I can't wait to start planning my next trip, October of 2012 for my 30th birthday! :) I'm hoping to go back next fall for the fam but that won't really be a 'vacation' because I hear that fam is a lot of work! And who knows? If I can get a good deal on a Disney cruise, I may be returning to Florida sooner rather than later. :)

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hey Jenny!
Nice finish to the trip. So sad to see it come to an end. :sad1:
I would love to stay at the Contemporary Villas sometime! We stayed at the BWV and they were awesome! If you rent points, it really isn't that bad. I'm sure these are a little harder to come by since they're newer. And I LOVE your antenna ball! So cute!
We were in New York right before Christmas 2 years ago and it is so beautiful! It doesn't snow too much down here in Texas, so it was so great to see it up there. We also saw the Rockettes show and I loved it! Hope to see it again someday...in NYC of course! ;)
Going with groups is always difficult. I have a dream to take Emma to WDW when she turns five (you know, to visit the Bippity Boppity Boutique for her birthday) and may have some family come along. I suppose the best plan of action is to say "Here are our plans, you guys can join along if you want. Or you can do your own thing and we'll meet up for lunch/dinner."
All in all, sounds like you guys had a great time! Hope you get to go again soon and hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

P.S. Let me know if you're on FB so we can keep up!!

Hi! I'm sad to see the TR end too. I love writing about and reliving my trip :( Can't wait to plan the next one!

I'd eventually like to stay at every Disney hotel lol but Contemporary isn't high on the list. I'd love to stay at AKL, Poly, or Yacht Club next. I'm going to try to save up so I can stay at one of them for my 30th. :) If not, maybe one of the mods, I've never stayed in any of them!

I love NYC during Christmas-time. I got to go there the other night again but for a concert, no Christmas sight seeing this time. :) I'm lucky I live so close.

That sounds like a great plan if you go for Emma's 5th! You can't please everyone and since the trip would be for her, you guys do what you want and if that doesn't fly with everyone, let them do their own thing!

Yup, I'm on FB! I'll msg you with my email so you can look me up!

I really liked reading about your trip! I definitely agree with you, though, about trip length. We did 5 nights last time and decided we definitely need 7 to have the perfect vacation! I do applaud you for traveling with so many people and keeping your cool-- DBF and I only travel together. We're too afraid of how it would go with more people in the mix!

Great trip wrap-up! We went for 5 days last June and it was horrible! I vowed to never take a trip that short ever again. It has to be at least 8 days/7 nights (or longer) from now on!

I'll be planning a longer trip next time. I'd like a day just to hang out at the resort, maybe go to DTD or do something recreational like rent one of the boats. I always say I'm going to do that and never do. And next time, it will just be me and Kris. I enjoyed this trip but it's an easier trip to manage with less people! I can't imagine going as a grand gathering. :scared1:

Thank you! Yes, I think my next trip will definitely be 8 days/7 nights. I would love to do 10 days if I can afford it! I can't wait until the 2012 rates are out but I have a long time to wait for that.

Great recap!! I'm so happy you had a great trip! I will be anxiously awaiting the next PTR! ;)

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year! We will for sure be in contact via PM!

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. Now that it's over, I can't wait for summer to be here. I'm not a winter fan!

My Christmas was good but busy. I spent Christmas Eve with Kris and his family. We went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant. It was yummy and there was so much food! I was stuffed afterwards. Kris's parents got me an awesome gift: Harry Potter DVD box set 1-6. :woohoo: After dinner, I hung out at their house for a bit and then went to my mom's so I could be with my family Christmas morning. Me, my sis, my mom, and my grandma all opened presents together in the morning. The best part of the morning was when we surprised my mom with a new laptop. She was so shocked. We hid it in the garage and said 'Oh Santa may have left something else here for you.' She was so happy! I knew she thought she wouldn't be getting it because we kept telling her we couldn't afford it so it was nice to surprise her. :)

Christmas Day was spent at my brother's with my nephews and the rest of my family. It took the kids almost 2 hours to open their gifts from everybody. Spoiled! That night I went to Kris's house and exchanged gifts with him. He got me a Wii!! :thumbsup2 I play everyday, I love it. :)

I also got an unexpected 4 day weekend that Christmas. It would've been great if the day off hadn't been spent shoveling 2 feet of snow!!!

NYE was spent out, at this place called the Breakfast Club. It's an 80s themed club, if you couldn't tell by the name. It was fun until about 12:30 and then all sorts of crazy drama went on. I had a good time but it could've been better. :headache: New Year's Day was spent sleeping lol and Kris & I went to my brother's for a little bit to see my family. I spent the whole time playing video games. My sister and I belted out Step By Step on Singstar and then we played Just Dance. I got the high score everytime. :thumbsup2 That game is a workout! And there are all sorts of embarrassing pictures of me on facebook now. :rotfl: And seeing my mom dance to Tina Turner was priceless.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season!

Kris' parents are fantastic-- all the Harry Potters?! They're keepers!

How sweet you guys surprised your mom with a laptop!!

AHH! A wii! So fun! We loved ours (then got rid of it) and I miss it. You've got a good gift giver on your hands with Kris! ;)

SNOW! Jealous! Ehh.. but not jealous of the shoveling.. :(

Your NYE sounds fun! But.. did you watch NKOTB with BSB on the Countdown?!?!

Augh, that snow did come a day too late up here! No white Christmas, but a blizzard the next day? NOT FUN! That's such a sweet surprise for your mom-- I bet she really appreciated it!
DBF and I spent the weekend re-watching all of the HP movies-- love them all! That was so sweet of Kris's parents to get you all of them!

Yes, Kris's parents are all kinds of awesome!

He not only got me a Wii, he got me the the 25th anniversary bundle which is red AND he got me Epic Mickey. :)

Jealous? You can have all the snow you want. Let's switch places for the winter!

I did see it in the club but there was no sound. I watched it on youtube. I wasn't impressed by their AMA performance but this was better. I'm still not crazy about them sharing the stage though!

I'm glad it didn't snow on Christmas. It would've made driving and seeing anybody impossible! At least I got an extra day off work out of it.

Kris isn't a big Harry Potter fan but he said I should bring a movie over each week and we can watch together. :)

Just wanted to update quickly to say my co-worker applied and got accepted for the March Disney World fam. They're putting her up in the Grand Floridian AND she gets to tour the Dream. How lucky is she??? So jealous!

HMMMMM, maybe I missed a post? What is the March Disney World Fam.?

I work in a TA. A fam is short for familiarization tour, a trip TAs take to see a destination. Disney World usually hosts two a year. Disney calls them Agent Education Programs or AEPs.

Wow!! That's amazing!! Is it too late for you to apply? :rotfl:

Believe me, I'd love to but since we work in the same department, they wouldn't let two of us go at the same time for a whole week. I think I'll apply for the one in September though :)

I am a little late getting here but I just read your report! Sounds like you had a blast! I can't wait to take my DS for the first time Oct. 2012!
