...now that I'm an official member! How do I get one?
It is a nice sentiment to send the litho and backpack but
really you spend a chunk of money like this and you expect
maybe a Kiplinger backpack not something Walmart quality.
It has vinyl, not leather, straps! I'm sure it won't last even
two trips. Sorry if I sound picky but really I expect more from
Disney. They even do much better with the DCL returning gift.
That duffel is high quality. Anyone else got a comment?

I understand your position, but I am grateful to receive anything, frankly. We got two different style canvas bags the first time we bought points, and we got the BCV lithograph (only) when we did our add on. We also have received a DVC license plate, VWL pin, and the 9/11 DVC pins since we first purchased in August 2000. All were very much appreciated.

I wasn't expecting anything with my DVC purchase, except some great vacations, so I was quite happy and nicely surprised with my backpack and litho. (If the backpack was leather, I would think the increased cost would be picked up by us DVC members.)

BTW, welcome home...

Have to admit, we were over the moon with our back pack and lithograph as we weren't expecting anything :)
Thought it was a lovely touch.

Yeah, I knew it was gonna sound like I was complaining. Really I'm not I
just think they would be better off sending nothing than sending something of poor quality. The lithograph is beautiful and would have been enough. The poor quality bag just sent the wrong message. BTW, no one has mentioned how to get a tshirt!

Leather backpack? Did you want your per point cost to be higher too? We got two canvas bags when we joined. One for the documents, and one tote type bag for the pool or parks with a logo on it. We still use the logo bag ALL THE TIME when we go to the parks. It is light weight and easy to carry on a shoulder.

We love our tote bag and use it all of the time. I wish we could buy an extra couple to have around. They are great. It's always a surprise to receive something extra. Maybe one of these days there will actually be DVC merchandise to purchase. I know nothing about t-shirts but I know my DH would be saying "hey, how do I get one of those" if they were available. I have ready many times about DVC merchandise being short sided...hopefully one of these days that will change.

I did not get the backpack when we joined (we joined before they were offering them) so I ordered one and paid $40 for it. I agree it is of very poor quality and I returned it.

I am not sure of what t-shirt you are reffering to. I did not recieve a t-shirt and I am not aware of anyone else receiving one.

We werent expecting any type of gift when we joined. So we were happy to get something.
Unfortunately, the backpack didnt hold up well on our June trip.

I'm sorry to hear that the backpacks don't hold up well. Our canvas bags have been extremely durable.

I guess I expected something when we joined too - we did get a tote bag - but I was expecting something on our first trip - not a gift or anything - just a note or a voice mail or a "welcome home" from somebody upon arrival - that extra Disney touch. It was surprisingly not there. It hasn't changed my opinion of DVC though - still the best value by far!

I did forget to say that we did hear from our rep during our first stay - just thought there would be something more than what she did on her own.

Yes, DoctorP, our canvas bag has held up well too. We have even washed it numerous times.

As for T-shirts..... You can purchase DVC logo wear at each of the DVC resorts, but the selection is small and poor. Nice wind breaker type jackets, but they are WHITE!!!:o and T-shirts at OKW that are PURPLE!:o I can do without the shot glass etc, and just wish they had logo clothing I would wear!
