So I'm in the market for a new stove. The one I have now is 20 years old and still working but I've always wanted a new fancy, dancy double oven job. :goodvibes. I love to bake and while I don't do a lot of cooking during the week, I still have Sunday dinners.

Soooo i firmly admit that it's been awhile since I shopped for one but the prices!! :scared1:

Does this include the professional chef with it? :faint:

I'd love a new Viking range.

Just venting.

LOL... It's crazy what some of those prices are.

It should at least come with a profession chef for one week... You know to show you proper usage of your new product.

Would it make you feel any better if I told you that multiple people who I have talked to who own Viking ovens say that they need to be calibrated a lot?

Also, a friend of mine who is a very successful chef cooked for years on the crappiest stove I have ever seen (we're talking an itty bitty thing less than two feet wide). Some of the most amazing food came off of that piece of junk.

Its not so much about the equipment, its what you do with it.

true, but have u seen the prices on the lower end ranges? 1K easy. I was hoping for a happy middle ground. while I do prepare great meals on my 20 year old crappy one, I guess I'm a wee bit vain enough to want a nice looking kitchen. It's probably where I spend most of my family time.

Hey, that's why kitchen remodeling is big business

What you should look into are two separate items.

One is an electric double oven as a built-in. Then instead of a stove get a gas cooktop.

You may find that buying the two items is less that the one giant stove.

You can also check out a restaurant supply house. You can get a real professional stove for a lot less than Viking or Jen Air. :teacher:

I love my all-electric Electrolux stove. I thought I wanted a Viking, but realized I'd rather have something that I enjoy cooking on and what makes it enjoyable for me is when it cleans up easily. I'm much more likely to let the kids help me at the stove with this one than I would be with a fancier cook top. It is the smooth top type. (Gas cooktop was not an option for us due to no natural gas lines. Loved cooking on gas cooktop at old house - hated cleaning it)

It is the size of a regular free-standing stove but it has 2 ovens! The top oven is convection, and it has ball bearing shelves that slide like a dream. The bottom oven is on the bottom where you might normally have a storage drawer. It has separate temperature controls. I use it most often as a warming drawer, but have cooked in it a few times.

Thanks, my 30 year old Magic Chef is on its way out. We are also shopping for a new stove.
