And while I was waiting, there were 5 Epcot buses, 2 Animal Kingdom buses, and 1 Hollywood Studios bus.

What gives?

Ok, granted it was EMH morning for Epcot. But FIVE Epcot buses in 35 minutes when there were ZERO MK buses?

Wow. Kind of makes it hard to avoid EMH crowds if you can't get to a different park! Resort???

What resort are you staying at? My guess is either Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk or Swan/Dolphin.

What time?? Buses don't run regularly to a park until about an hour before rope drop.

No system is perfect 100% of the time. Stuff happens. I'm not being sarcastic., I'm being totally and plainly real. Mistakes and oversights happen.

I have had this problem when trying to get back to POP from MK in the afternoons.

Agreed. And I understand that. But it doesn't make it less frustrating when you are trying to get to a breakfast reservation.

Did you happen to ask the drivers of the other buses if one for the Magic Kingdom would be arriving soon at Port Orlenas Riverside, because I think they can radio ahead. If not was there not a Cast Member standing there marking down what buses were arriving and their destination, because they could have tried to help.

This is why we always rent a car when in Disney...the only sure bet you are getting somewhere on time in Disney is driving yourself...the extra few dollars a car rental costs saves big time in stress. We are on vacation and the last thing we want to do is get stressed out..remember stress kills...:rotfl:

Don't plan for the last possible bus that will make it. It might be full and not able to take you.

If you allow for at least two buses, if both are full or one doesn't show up, then you will have an excuse to expect the maitre d' to pretend you showed up exactly on time and seat you as if you had a reservation and not as if you were walking up.

Allow up to 45 minutes for two buses to come and allow 15 minutes of drive time to Magic Kingdom from Riverside.

The only exception to this rule is travel to MK. The buses take you right to the park. If you drive you still neeed to Tram and monorail/ferry across the lake.

I usually drive but it is faster to MK to take the bus. Last time I went from MK to POP, I took the car and the rest of the Fam took a bus and they beat me by almost 20 minutes

It doesnt happen often, but it does happen sometimes. I have never been able to get an answer as to why. I agree that it is very annoying.

I wish this had been our experience last August! We always waited a minimum of 30 mins. in the bus queue to get from MK to POP, and then had to stand on the bus, packed in like sardines, for another 15-20 mins. It was ridiculous! Even if it took 30 mins to get from MK to TTC and into the parking lot to get the car, before starting the drive back to POP, you would have been moving or sitting the whole time, not standing in one spot on tired, aching feet. Every time we stay onsite, I make a car rental ressie, then get cheap and cancel it to save money, and end up regretting this SO MUCH. There's no rhyme or reason to the Disney bus schedule, other than to know that it's gonna take a LONG time (an hour and 45 mins to bus from POFQ to MK, then monorail to Poly? NUTS!!)

Well, since they said they saw buses to Epcot and DHS, it wouldn't have been at any of those resorts.

There are always going to be glitches in the transportation system. If anyone is going to have an issue if a bus takes longer to get to the resort, then they might want to think about renting a car. The buses do not run on a 'schedule' per se. They do sort of run every 20 mins, but 'stuff' happens and that can be easily thrown off. I remember a year or so ago, while my friend and I were at Kidani, waiting for a bus to DHS...well, we waited about 35 mins, while we watched bus after bus to MK, Epcot and AK come along, with many multiple buses to the same park. Huge number of guests got on that bus to DHS when if finally showed up....and the bus was almost full of standing passengers so those waiting at Jambo House were out of luck...they had to wait for yet another bus.
It happens. Nothing you can do about it.

Similiar happened to us our first trip.
We finally took a cab after waiting 30 minutes for a MK bus at POR
We were at the bus stop by 7:25AM
MK was EMH
We saw 3 Epcot buses, 2 DHS buses, 2 DTD buses, 1 AK Bus and a couple water park buses. Now keep in mind, MK was the ONLY park that opening at 8AM that morning, The rest didn't open until 9AM or later!!!

I wrote a two page letter after I got home expressing my frustration.

Which bus stop?

Don't plan for the last possible bus that will make it (here, EMH rope drop). It might be full and not able to take you.

If you allow for at least two buses, if both are full or one doesn't show up, then you will have an excuse to ask Guest Relations for an extra round of fast passes (at noon; while that's not contemporaneous, you don't want to waste any more precious EMH time and morning doldrums at the GR booth)

Last October we spent a wonderful week at OKW. One day we went to AKL--Boma for breakfast, then to AK. Not long after we got to AK, the wife felt ill and we decided to head back to OKW and relax for a while. Now, I realize not many people are heading park to resort in the morning, but we waited almost an hour without seeing an OKW bus. I was under the impression the busses simply cycled resort to park to resort to park etc. Obviously not.

when you are trying to get to a breakfast reservation.

That was probably the reason there weren't any MK buses for 35 minutes. It sounds like your reservation was for before the park opens and in that situation there's usually only one bus every half hour or so.
