I use to have a GPS, it was nice, we enjoyed it. A guy did some work to finish in our garage, he stole our GPS. Nice....we know 100% that he did it. UGH!!!

Over the weekend my SIL hit my Yukon, ok, no big deal, except they live in Atlanta. So, this insurance adjuster is coming to our house this morning to give an "estimate" or something, I don't know. He has a GPS. Ok, good for him, except our house/address doesn't show up on a GPS. Why does everyone insist that their GPS is magical, and our address/house will suddenly show up on the GPS? This guy flat out was rude to me. I offered to give him directions, and he was a complete smart "a" about getting directions. Guess what, he is lost, and irritated at me.

Did I mention I hate GPS!

Ohh, and I'm completely aware this is OT, but, I remembered someone talking about their reluctance to getting a GPS.

I must add, he finally found his way here. Instead of ringing the door bell, he sat in his car and blew his horn. I am certain my neighbors appreciated it as much as I did! What a jackalope!

yes,,that blows, or he blows , maybe it's the horn that blows,,
but something about him blows ! :lmao:

we hava new GPS and it isn't much smarter than HE sounds.

Most GPS devices will get you to the neighborhood you are looking for. Most likely the correct street but not the specific block/address.

We were going to a restaurant and I was in the back seat. The people driving had GPS and I have my Droid. The standalone GPS showed we had arrived at our location at least 3/4 mile too soon. My Droid was spot on.

If this happened to me, I would very nicely point out the fact that "I TOLD YOU SO, JACKWAGON!!!!!" :lmao: As for the horn blowing, well, I can't say on here what I'd tell him about that! Mean people suck!

Yes, this guy definitely BLOWS!!!!!

Yes, mean people are no fun. My DH had a lot of problems with him earlier apparently.

I agree about the Droid though, or my DH's Iphone, it has always taken us right to the spot, and the GPS didn't always work, definitely didn't always work.

Wow, rude!

I don't trust Maggie, our GPS 100%. She likes to mess with us sometimes. Like the time we were in a strange-to-us town, at night, in a torrential thunderstorm, looking for an IHOP and she took us to an abandoned building with vines growing up through the decaying walls...

I guess I'm old-school still, though. I back up the GPS with a road atlas. I think you can still find those at antique stores? :goodvibes

The lady on my gps has a bit of an attitude. She sounds so snotty when she says she's recalculating! Like she's all annoyed that I didn't listen to her!

Our GPS was a guy, I refused to listen to the chic on there, she had a snotty voice! LOL!

Our GPS has been known to go right past the place we wanted and take us around a block and back to it. Yes, it is a woman, Tomasina Tomasina...lol:rotfl:

You know, they have a state insurance commission for these kinds of people. I would suggest you call them and share your story. (You can even tell them how you hate GPS!:rotfl2:)

They LOVE hearing stories about insurance companies that act like jackalopes, at least the one in Florida does! I had to tell them a story about a former car insurance company once. They really liked hearing my story about a certain jackalope! :)

I'm sure if you're towing or have a big rig, you want to reduce the possibility of turning in somewhere and finding out that you can't turn around in order to get back out. I think a GPS does that. At least it has for me. It's not 100% but it's much better with it than without it. If you get the best one you can and keep up with the updates, it's pretty reliable most of the time. But it's a case of garbage in, garbage out.
Even though I don't like the default voice on ours, for some reason the other voices only give me directions without the names of the roads. Am I missing a setting or something?

I totally hear you when it comes to towing. My DH was not so pleasantly annoyed with me one trip to FL when we were toting the TT. We normally stick to rest areas and truck stops now. I actually really like eating in rest areas now. Having a sandwhich, let the kids move around a little. Makes us all a lot happier when we get back in the truck to ride some more.
