It's on the news section of the DIS. It's from Pete. Thanks to Cathy Canada for posting this on the CB.

I read the article and agree 100%. Thanks for sharing this with us, Nat. This certainly is a must read for all Disney vacationers.

I leave in less than 2 days and I can't wait.
I only went to EE a few times, and never did the late night thing. I was too busy at the Comedy Club at PI to worry about what rides I might get on. I always manage to see what interests me and do what I enjoy each trip without the extra time available to those staying on property.
I am bringing my dad for his first trip to the World so I hope we can see the things I know he will enjoy. I heard Carousel of Progress is closed due to problems, but I really want him to see that.
But if they ever close Small World I may have to rethink my vacation plans. Peggie

This being one of my and Rauls' alltime favourite rides, we are very upset to hear
that it may not be a "temp" close....the word is that they are not bringing it back period... due to low attendence..

I may have to write Disney on this one...first Mr. Toads Wild Ride...now this....of course my notes on that one
didn't help either...Oh well!!

I, probably like most of you, spend almost everyday thinking about Disney World and thinking about my next trip and working hard so that I can have the enjoyment of a wonderful vacation there.

How sad would it be to not have Disney World to go to. How sad would it be to not have a Disney Ship to take me to wonderful places.

They need to cut and save. Let them cut and save all they want to keep our parks a profitable business, but also a wonderful place to go.

When you are walking down Mainstreet and seeing that castle and smelling those Chocolate Chip cookies there is no better feeling on earth. You do not realize they cut an hour from the park operations or they are not having an E Ticket night that night. That does not matter.

It is still Magic.

Darlene
5 days to cruise time - Thank you Disney

Nat, Thanks for sharing these words from Pete with all of us.

Pete, thank you for putting into words what I have tried so hard to say, both on the boards and off....The Magic is not gone....let's make sure it stays that way!!!!! If we have to put up with a few small changes, that's ok with me!!

Leslie

When the magic goes for you...- hope this never happens to us!!! We are so excited every time we turn the corner on Main Street and see the castle - beyond words. I think that we enjoy it more now as adults because there is that inate feeling about "magic" and fantasy vs reality that age may bring. As a child neither of us ever had the opportunity to get to WDW, so these trips are so special. We will think of all who enter and enjoy this place as we stroll down Main St next week.:bounce:

Thank you, Pete Werner! Your editorial is a balanced & responsible analysis of the current situation. For all of us who are Disney fans want to experience the magic, and we want to experience it for decades to come. Yes, Disney is a business & we need to recognize the current fiscal conditions. I have personally met Matt Ouimet & agree with Pete's comments.

Ok Leslie and Caroline,
Tell me how you do it. You both said something to the effect "When you turn the corner or walk down Main Street and see the Castle the magic is back"
How can you stand waiting that long to see the castle. I start looking for it as soon as I get into TTC. I peek at it at the Monorail landing, on the monorail, and when I get to the bottom of the ramp.
I even look up at it when I am standing on my brick. Except of course when I am looking at my brick. which by the way better be clean. The last time I was there I brought an old toothbrush and a permanent Magic Marker so I could do some repairs.
My first day at the parks always entails my trip over to see the castle. Even if I am not going into that park, I have to take the monorail ride just to see it.
And yes, I even liked it pink, although that should have been a month long celebration, that pink castle just got old very fast. Peggie

While the magic may never diminish for me or for many on this board, I fear what might be the true reaction of the General Public. So many cut backs were in evidence to me this past year even before the September 11th disaster. Walt would truly have a fit if he were to walk through the Magic Kingdom today. While I don't disagree with the need to be profitable (my whole family is a family of Walt Disney stockholders), the returning WDW guest ranks high, while the returning WDW guest who finds it is worth his while to pay extra to stay on property for the privileges ranks even higher. We won't know the true impact for a while when those who are staying now decide that it isn't worth it in the future or tell others that it wasn't worth it. Word of mouth works both ways positive and negative. I would be reminded of the classic Walt Disney story of the Christmas Parade. Walt was planning a Christmas Parade and his people came to him and said, "Disneyland has record attendance at the Holidays. We aren't sure we will be able to get a parade through the streets. Why should we spend the money?" Walt replied that it was cheap to keep them coming, but would cost ten times more to bring them back if we lost them.
