We went to Boma for dinner the night before Easter, and at the end of our meal, I was desperately wanting to take some cookies with me for later. I am a VERY honest person, so I couldn't actually bring myself to do it, but I was thinking out loud to my Dh as to how one might pull this off. I don't carry a purse, and none of us had jackets or anything. I mentioned that maybe I could stuff some into my kids' milk cups (the disposable ones) and pretend we were taking their drinks with us. (as I said, I wouldn't actually do it, we were just having some fun). I was not talking loudly and our server was NO WHERE NEAR our table. I went up to the dessert bar and took one cookie to eat before we left, and when I returned to the table, our server was standing there with a handful of paper napkins. He says "I brought you some napkins in case you wanted to take some cookies with you!" My jaw hit the table, and I almost started laughing!! I could NOT believe he said that! I figure one of three things happened here: 1) everyone receives this same offer, or maybe just everyone that has this particular server, 2) the table is bugged or 3) our server is a mind-reader (scary thought!!) or maybe a lip reader and he saw me from across the room. So, has anyone else been presented with napkins to take cookies from Boma?? I still cannot believe this whole thing really happened. It was so surreal! (Oh, by the way, I took four cookies, but wanted to take about 3 dozen!!) Next time I am going to discuss how to pilfer coconut tiramisu and hope for the same result!
