Is that a previous home repair with brick-textured plywood?
 
Ahhh, I think I see your problem,,didja know that,,,oh nevermind, I'm sure you see it too.
 

Just guessing, but maybe the material was chosen due to it's fire retardant ability? I'm guessing it was possibly asbestos paneling readily available for use near stoves and they figured it would provide an added safety measure?

So watcha gonna do with the roof now?
 
No it was just old masonite panneling. More than likely purchased as defective and used where no one would ever see it.
I'm not sure but I don't believe they intended for these to last this long:confused3:confused3
But don't worry I will have Her back together long before our June trip:thumbsup2
