I think my Mom needs to watch the weather

My Mom is in Vegas and is due to fly home tomorrow. We live in Buffalo. She just called to see if our airports are closed due to the storm. I explained we have no snow that the sun was shining a bit today. Her reply " well E....called (E is my sisters DH who lives in CT, my sister is also in Vegas) and says the airports in NY City are closed." "Mom we are 8-9 hours away from NY it isn't snowing here." "Are you sure?" :confused3 "Mom, it is NOT snowing here, it is not supposed to snow at all, the storm is along the East coast" "well Buffalo is on the East coast" "No, we are in the east, but we are NOT on the coast." I then told her to turn on the weather channel and assured her she would get home tomorrow. My sister who lives in CT will probably have to bulldoze her car out of the airport lot when she gets home on Tuesday.

Dan, she's probably snowed in...I haven't talked to her at all tonight and she isn't on-line. They love the snow...her DH will probably have his toys out tomorrow (snowmobiles)

I thought you meant ones from their shop, LOL.

Hope everybody is okay out that way for everybody with all the snow, on the coast, and southeast of you, not in Buffalo. :teeth:

Just so I understand--your mom is in Las Vegas, but flying to Buffalo where she also lives ? And she didn't know that she lives far from NYC and is not on the coast? If so, :rotfl2:

Exactly! That is what made the whole phone call so funny! My BIL had her so worried about the snow and it wasn't even remotely close to us. She drives to CT all the time, she should know how far away it is :confused3

Does she have a direct flight? I only ask because people were stranded in JAX (FL) last night because of the snow further north. Planes can't get to the Northeast from Atlanta, so Atlanta is limiting the number of planes arriving, knowing that people will just be stuck. A lot of flights from JAX to other areas also stop in Newark, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati.

So you might want to check to be sure that the "Hubs" are allowing arrivals.

That's what I was wondering too :rotfl2:

Sounds like she doesn't need the weather channel, but rather, a geography refresher course. :teeth: :teeth:

you stole my thunder, Bob, I was going to suggest a globe :)

Maybe stop by AAA and buy her a road atlas. ;) Maybe she's like my mom and always has to have something to worry about so she chose this assignment. :rotfl:

Thats what I thought too! Maybe I'll buy her an atlas for her birthday! :teeth:
She has a direct flight so no hubs to worry about.

I'm hoping it was just a senior moment and the fact that my BIL got my sister all worked up about the snow in CT. We do have a lake snow advisory for later this evening...her flight is due in a Midnight tonight. We shouldn't get enough snow to shut anything down so I will NOT tell her about that.
