I recently called to make a ressie and asked about my point balance to make sure my computer program agreed with ms. i was shocked at the point total according to ms. I requested an activity report, which only made me dizzy. How can i get to the bottom of this. This is serious, we are talking about points.
Thanks.

I made and canceled a similar pointed vacation three times, the third time the told me I didn't have enough points. After a ful da, three supervisors, six or seven marked up faxes of that dreaded activity statement back and fourth, tracing my points from the begining, with me 100% right and making it very clear to them, the final result was that I was wrong and they inadvertantly credited my account too many points and that is why was able to make the vacation ressie the first two time, I was out 257 points!!!!! PERIOD!!!!

It was harrowing, frustrating and I don't wish it on anyone.

A year later I call MS, I am under the impression that I have no current poins and have five or less points banked into or borrowed from next year. I forget what I was calling for, but I asked about my current point total. They told me that I had 257 current points that had to be used or banked immidiately!!!!

My lost points!!!

There stupid computers caught up. I always say that not only are those activity statements completely imcomprehensible, but they don't understand them either.

I used the 'found' points for an AKL concierge stayd and the rest to help with a poly concierge stay a couple months later.

I hope you get better results than I did.

I had this problem once too. It was because I had cancelled a reservation....well within the 31 day range. For some reason the reservation cancelled, but it kept my points. I was frantic trying to figure out what had happened.

Those statmements are totally impossible to decipher.

Anyway if you ever cancelled a reservation, you might want to make sure your points got restored.

This just happened to me 2 weeks ago. I called to confirm my point total, and they quoted 77 points MORE than what I thought I had. So I asked them to send me an activity statement. Once I finally figured out how to find my way through it, I found their mistake. They were wrongly crediting me with 77 points because the computer (or whoever??) subtracted wrong.

Well, it was a little tempting to just keep the 77 points and not say anything. But my conscience wouldn't let me sleep if I did that, so I called back MS and pointed out their error. The 77 points went back into the system :( and my point total was straightened out. :D

Take your time getting to know how the point activity statement works. Good luck getting your points squared away!

You are going to call sometime down the road, six months, year, something like thaat and you are going to be missing those points.

Just a prediction.

We recently went through something similar with MS ourselves. We had made ressies for upcoming Mar. trip. DW decided we couldnt go that particular week so we rebooked for another week. Then my parents were going to come down for 1 night so we booked them a room. After all was said and done and a Oct trip in the booking stages we were being told we would only have 47 pts left for 05 use year.
My calculations werent the same as theirs. After reading the activity statements(all the credit goes to DW on that one) we saw where the mistake was. And it was their mistake. After a 20 min call MS admitted it was their fault, they got it straightened out.
Like Rich says, learn to read the statements, it will bring a whole new light on the subject. Im glad we are fairly new members or this would be difficult. After each stay ask for statements. Same for banking, borrowing etc. This way it doesnt get streched beyond control.
Good luck!!

Oh boy, is my face red!!
After some encouragement i took on the activity report again, with a little help from ms. as it turns out i had made the mistake.
its never fun to have less points than you thought, but i won't make that mistake again!
my apologies and thanks to ms.

:eek:Richyams..

I was missing 138 points. I went back and forth with MS over it. Finaaly I excepted defeat. I had asked for a point statemewnt however. When I got it I realized that a reservation of my brothers was made from My account. So when we thought he had xx points left. He had alot more as his ressie had been made from my account. I will accept responsibility for part of it. AS it could have have partialy are fault. But thank goodness it was my brothers account. We just transferred the points for his ressie back into my account.

I may be way of center here, but isn't there a way, other than the activity report that MS sends when requested, to prove exactly how many points you used ? For Rich to almost lose 257 points is insane ? I save all my reservation statements that show how many points I'm using. Can't these be used as evidence/proof as to how many points exactly have been utilized ? It's scary to think that MS can mess up like this and come out as being right.
Like I said....I might have missed a point here, as I've only been a member since 2000 and have only 5 reservations in our history, but I just figured saving these was my proof ? When you cancel a ressie, do you get a statement in the mail same as when you make a reservation ? I'm glad Rich got his points back---though I'm thinking he might not have spent them when and how he would have otherwise. I guess I never figured it was as easy as I'm reading here for MS to lose track of our points and for us to be at their mercy when it happens

I have made this comment before. I have two other timeshares and both of them send my confirmation letter and tell me exactly which room I will be in, the number of previous points I had, the number of points needed for this reservation, and the number of points remaining. I think one of them even notes my banking deadline if that is coming up. I would not expect DVC to give us the room number because I like their system of giving us the key and we just call in later for the room number. If they told us the room number up front we could not get the key. But, I don't understand why DVC wont show point balance.
