Right about now, everyone is getting their annual lawn ornament display primed for the summer.

Let's talk about the good, the bad and the downright ugly ones in your neck of the woods.

There's a very cute "Ladybugs Welcome" lawn ornament around the block from us. I wish it was mine. :D

I currentally have racoons in my flower bed but have this uncontrolable urge to get me a gnome. Someone please stop me, i think it all comes from the commercials ( Was it for Orbitz) where he got the bubbles up his whoopsadazie. Maybe I should go with Pink Flamingos, naw they would look out of place in Connecticut.

How about cement ducks? They were the rage here a couple years back. People used to dress them up for holidays too.

There is a house down by my mom's (in FL) where there is a large cement Budha on the front lawn. They dress him up too.

I'm addicted to whirligigs! I currently have 7 of them out in my backyard. One is a lady churning butter, there's a lobster boat that rocks back and forth, a man chopping wood, a guy cranking an automobile, an old fashion windmill, a woodpecker hammering nails into his house and a bull chasing a guy through a barn.

I also have lots of cat stuff... planters, statues, etc. I've got ceramic ducks and a metal squirrel crossing sign too. And, of course, the madatory small pink flamingo. :p

Ahh, religious statues

The prize for the ugliest yard in America has to go to the couple who now own my late paternal grandparent's home.

When I look at the backyard, which you can partially see from the street, I nearly start crying :( These people take lawn ornamentation to a whole new gaudy level! My grandparents would be turning in their graves if they saw the yard now

As for my parents-we have a nice garden landscaping now :D We have some small turtles, rabbits, and some dogs. But, as of right now, no pink flamingos and garden gnomes, which I actually like!
Oops. Did I just admit that in public?

I still have one of these. My DS4 likes to dress it up from time to time but mostly it's naked  !

Our neighbors who moved a couple of years ago decorated their front yard with several of the glass bulbs (like huge Christmas ornaments). They were all over the place. One would have been okay but several was kind of tacky. Add to that the pink flamingos and it was a sight.

Not tacky but just ? Where we live you see deer in the yards all the time. Someone actualy has a small plastic deer in their front yard  why?!?

PS. I don't like the gnomes, they seem creepy.

Neighbors dog tried leaving an "ornament"
but I chased him away in time.....

Anyway....currently, there is a community project with "frogs"....

(we did fish in 2001....)

Statuettes that are painted and decorated in a theme or such...so...I want to put something "froggy" out on the lawn....

hmmm...maybe a scarey frog will keep the dog away.....

Where I lived on Long Island, many people had a statue of Mary with some type of curved backdrop. Some of you may be familiar with these. My cousin dubbed these statues "Mary on the half shell" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: This still cracks me up just thinking about it.

Hi,
I have the new Mickey Welcome Sign in my yard. It's the one that was in the Disney catalog.

thinks hat if brer papa knew how bad i look at the moment..lol.. is one big scary froggy at hte moment..:) he wouldnt be lauhging:P

mentioned this is a post a little while ago, but here I go again.

I have to be careful not to overdo lawn ornaments because I find they can be overwhelming and look 'tacky' if too much. But they're so gosh darn cute!

On my doorstop I have a plain painted milk can.

The two side gardens have only terra cotta pots plus a small turtle on a rock and a cute frog welcome sign on my dd's side(she has taken that part as her garden). My side has a small statue of a boy and girl that was given to me on my anninversary.

On the side with the flower garden, I have a toad house, a large toad, birdbath, and two little gray stone ducks.

On the other side is the vegetable garden. There is my mini plastic pink flamingo and scary owl (meant as jokes but I think they might scare away vegie stealing animals). I also have a garden statue of a boy carrying a basket on his shoulders.

I have more but I don't put them out at the same time. Next year.

I have Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I also have a Minnie Mouse patio stone I bought at DTD.
One of our neighbors has the "Mary on the half shell". I will never look at that statue the same again.

I found this guy on E-Bay for $9000, and think he would look great in my yard! Who wants to buy him for me?
