I think it's time, can this be done?

I think we might actually be getting our DW vacation this year. My mom has an opportunity to get a timeshare for the week for $600. It is off site, I'm pretty sure. So we are just responsible for the tickets to the parks and part of gas. She will be paying for a portion of the gas and food. I think we can stock up on food between now and then and save too.

Anyways, a few questions:

1 - we are looking to go the second week of October. When do tickets for the Halloween party go on sale and are they hard to get?

2 - is there a better way to get tickets or are we pretty much stuck paying full price b/c we aren't doing a resort package?

3 - can you do a dining plan w/o a resort package?

I know I'll have more. But I'll start with these. Thanks.

As for Mickey's Halloween party, you can buy the tickets early. Check the WDW web site and get the info from there. You may even get a discount buying them ahead of time.:scared1:

Tickets: check with a AAA TA and see if you can get a discount from them, they usually run about 10% cheaper if you also buy them early. You can also buy them on the WDW site and save a little also.

Sorry about the DDP, you have to stay at a resort on property to cash in on this, it runs the length of your stay in nights.:headache:

Not sure when the MNSSHP tickets go on sale. I have seen a site mentioned called undercovertourist. com that has tickets for about the same price as Disney BEFORE taxes and shipping. They seem to offer them cheaper this way, but we have never purchased through them, so I can't say definately. Like the OP stated you would have to book a package for the DDP.

I would suggest joining mousesavers.com you should be able to get tickets at a reduced rate. It was the best I could find and was reputable.

Hope you have a blast!

1 - we are looking to go the second week of October. When do tickets for the Halloween party go on sale and are they hard to get?

The tickets for the 2006 MNSSHP went on sale May 1, 2006. I would expect that the 2007 tickets would be available around the same time. Halloween almost always sells out. Tickets for Friday or Saturday events might also be hard to get but not impossible.

2 - is there a better way to get tickets or are we pretty much stuck paying full price b/c we aren't doing a resort package?

If you're not getting a package from Disney, then I would suggest going thru one of the following ticketbrokers:
The Official Ticket Center
Dreams Unlimited Tickets
Ticketmania
Undercover Tourist
Discount Orlando Vacation
Maple Leaf Tickets

Compare their prices, including tax and shipping charges. And if you sign up for the MouseSavers.com Newsletter (which comes out on the 15th of every month), you'll find links in it for even lower ticket prices at one or more of the above ticketbrokers.

3 - can you do a dining plan w/o a resort package?

No, you must book a package that includes a room at a Disney resort and tickets in order to get the dining package. The only exception would be DVC members and their guests. If your mother's timeshare is with the Disney Vacation Club, then she would be able to book the dining package thru member services for you.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm going to have to do some research and comparisons to see what the best deal is for us. I'm thinking that my mom won't do the parks but one of the days and most likely that would be MK. I'll get her to ask about the time share. This is a person she works with that is letting us use it (we of course are paying for it). I'm excited!!!
