I was so excited to see the 4 already had refurb pricing. I really, really, really thought I wanted a 4. I mean it is the latest and GREATEST, right? And it has a camera w/ flash which I really miss from my old phone....

But, I've been reading about the "death grip" on the phone. Um, hello - how DO you hold it then? It does say "left hand grip" when I read one article and I am right handed so I mostly hold the phone in my right hand to talk. I "thumb text" so I don't really "hold" it then. That said, I have no idea if it really is left hand specific. I just saw it mentioned by someone that they could make the 3GSS do the same thing by reversing the phone to their right hand.... Does anyone have a 4 and is this a problem for you? What about 3GS? What issues might it have? Certainly, it is cheaper to buy so that is a plus but I just wonder if I should wait and see if they come out with a 4 that has the death grip issue resolved. OTOH, I've waited a long time and went back and forth on my decision to buy a phone or a touch. If I wait much longer I will start debating again. LOL

I've had my IPhone 4 for two weeks. Prior to that I had a 7 yr old phone w/no camera -quite the upgrade! I was really concerned about the issues people have had, but decided to take the 4 plunge. I read a lot on the internet and after asking around, I couldn't find anyone that I knew who had a problem with their 4. So far, so good with mine. I don't really grip or cup over the bottom of my phone anyway.

I have had mine since early Aug, don't have any problems grip with grip issue. LOVE my phone!

Iphone 4....I have no problems and it is far superior to the older models

Go with the 4... with all the issues it's had they have been exchanging them out almost without question.

If you have any problem at all bring it back for another one.

Death grip, yellow screen, and proximity sensor troubles are the major issues I have read about on the forums...

Me... I really wanted the 4 until it was released.. now I'm waiting for the next release...
I got a 3GS last November and I love it! No issues...

I have a 3GS since April. Silly glitches with it that usually require a hard reset. Other then that I love it.

Waiting in the next gen of the 4 so they can get the bugs out.

I am left-handed and I love the 4--haven't had a single problem. Well, I guess I have had one problem--I'm well on my way to an iPhone addiction...:)

A fellow lefty here that have not had any issues! Anyway another feature that we adore is the Facetime feature. My hubby travels on business and so it is a blessing for the kids to beable to see him to say goodnight. THat feature alone has saved me alot from crying kids asking me when daddy will be home.

I say 4 4 4!!

So...wait...you have to be holding the phone cupped at the bottom? Like how? I can't see me doing that either. Hmmm. Maybe I just don't understand it. I watched a video and she just had it laid in her palm like you would if you were gripping it to hold to your ear. Anyway, I may go with the 4 then, if no one is really having major issues.

I've had the 4 since launch day. I was having cheek hang up issues until they release 4.1! Cheek hang up issues over.

I didn't have antenna or reception issues because I've had a case on it from day 1!

I have had my 4 for less than a month and I have this issue all the time!! It is very buggy. Took it to WDW and it locked up for over 4 hours. It was self dialing, texting, would not do anything I wanted it to do. Called Apple and they said bring it to a store. No rental, so no go.

I dropped my 3g and since I was upgrading with a 2 year contract, I got the 4. I wish I had my 3g back. It was old faithful for more than 2 years before that last drop.

If you google different issues with the 4, you may want to wait it out. It's true they will replace it, but then you have to start over with downloading and transferring data, contacts etc.

I had a 2 for that past 2 years that consistently dropped calls. I decided to try the Droid X with Verizon. I hated that phone - and Verizon was just awful. When I tried to return the Droid 5 days after receiving it they told me I would lose my number (ported from AT&T) if I cancelled. But if I ported it back to AT&T I would have to pay the cancellation fee (something like $350!).

I must have made 5-6 trips between AT&T and Verizon that day. Fortunately they were in the same strip center. I thought AT&T was bad - but the Verizon people just flat out lied to me.

I used a credit card to buy it that I had a new number issued for because of a security problem - so Verizon originally told me it could not be returned unless I had the exact same card - which I did not have anymore as I had a new number.

I finally got everything resolved with Verizon, but it was painful. When I tried to call Verizon from my Droid X to ask a technical question I was told that I could NOT make a call to a service rep from the number that I was asking about - it's my only phone!

So I finally got a 3GS but had to wait a few days for it. It has not dropped a single call so I'm happy.

I was afraid that the 4 would be worse than my 2 so just went with the 3gs.

No, it is the opposite. As I understand it, if you hold the phone by the bottom with your hand kind of cupped around the corner it can be a problem. I tend to hold the phone up higher with my fingers and cup the back/sides.

I highly recommend the iPhone 4. I recently upgraded from a 3G to a 4. Like you, I was hesitant because of all the negative publicity. I talked to a few friends who had iPhone 4s and they all said that they were happy with their phones. So, I decided to take the plunge.

When I first got my phone & didn't have a case on it, I had problems picking up a signal in places where I used to get good reception. As soon as I put a case on the phone, the problem was solved. Not really an issue for me since I kept my 3G in a case for the whole time that I had it. (FYI, Apple will send you a free case after you get your iPhone 4.)

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to help!
