Soooo, I'm a little excited because my only is now 2 years old and is starting to get the Easter Bunny. the way he took to Santa this past Christmas was great, so I'm hoping for the same this Easter. I don't let him eat candy, and truly, he's not a fan of sweets anyway, so I initially started with a "spiderman" themed basket with a spiderman helmet, elbow and knee pads for his roller skates someone gave him for his birthday, a spiderman placemat, bowl and plates. That was going to be it. Then, I used a toys r us gift card he got for Christmas to get him a toddler swing to put on his new wooden playset we had installed this past weekend. TRU was having a buy one, get one free little tikes event this week, so I got a lawn mower for free. Then, the TS1 and 2 deal with the extra Monsters' Inc. movie so now three movies in his basket. Truly, all of that is about $38 total for everything.

I swear I'm going to stop now!!!!! :rolleyes1

anyone else having this problem?

Not quite the same problem. But my oldest DD just turned 18 and my DH suggested that we not do a basket for her this year. I personally couldn't have her not get a basket yet her younger sister get one. She is still in HS.

Anyway, I usually have their "baskets" be a tote bag or something like that. And inside I put brushes, misc. makeup, tank top, nail clippers, etc. with a chocolate bunny and a little other chocolate.

So, maybe some people think I would be going overboard for DD18.

I tend to go overboard for the holidays too. I shop sales throughout the year and sometimes don't realize how much I have put away. If it's really too much I will put some things away in my "present closet" for another holiday.;)

I don't like to give dd a lot of candy so she is getting a Hannah Montana tote (instead of a basket), The Princess and the Frog, a book and a few little toys and things. But we might go to BAB and get a bunny or something there, I got a coupon in the mail.

I have been known to go a "little" overboard. But I'm trying to be good this year. I have three DDs, and one of them is married. And, yes, they all look for their Easter basket!!! lol

Anyway, this year, they will get a little bit of candy (they're not that big on candy), and then a gift card to Starbucks (for the older ones), and my youngest DD will get a Disney gift card that she can use for our upcoming trip. Oh, and they'll all get a pair of flip flops too!

She is never too old for an Easter basket. I am 36 and my mom always made one up for me until 2008 (she passed away Aug 2008) and boy do I miss it. And I usually made her one. Mom even gave me a "Santa" present every year as well, but I am an only child (can you say spoiled).

Now, if there had been grandchildren, she would have stopped.

Dh is 31 and he is getting an Easter basket, we don't have children.

If you promise not to tell my husband, I'll admit I have a problem :rotfl:
DD7 is an only child & I have a shopping problem, so here's what will be going in her basket, Addy mini American Girl Doll, Molly AG hardcover book collection, 2 zhu zhu hamsters, lip smackers, cotton candy, and a chocolate bunny.

I tend to go overboard when it comes to the holidays. So far I have only done one basket for my dd and we did a make-up basket. 4 more to go and I will be done. Not sure what I am going to do for the other 4 I wanted to get i pods for them but then my husband said what will we get them for christmas this year. As they get older everything just gets more expensive..

Grandma gave us easter baskets (including our spouses) until great-grandkids came. So you have my OK. :thumbsup2

Yes I do have this problem, but this year I kept it to a minimum.

For DD's basket I got her an American Girl Molly DVD (Had a Best Buy gift card for myself for Christmas that I used).
Ordered her 2 used AG doll outfits for $15 total.
Ordered from AG w/ free shipping an outfit and a fiesta picnic set.
I also got her the Kit Paperdoll set.

DD is allergic to peanuts and treenuts so she doesn't get any candy unless I go to a country food store that is a few miles out of the way to get her Vermont Nut Free Candies and she is an only child.
I also plan on getting her some bubbles and chalk.

OH NO THE MINI DOLL! DD wanted the mini molly! Ah, have to get to Borders! :lmao:

I try to keep the candy at a minimum since I'M the one who ends up eating it all :confused3
So, I usually get some little summer gifts like swim goggles or suits, etc.
This year, my DS10 is getting sandals and two of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. DD12 is getting Nike slides and the last two Lightning Thief books. Plus a little candy. I really only intended to get one thing, but one thing led to another, and you see what happens... I'm trying my best to stay away from the stores until after Easter or I'm liable to get more and the baskets are already going to be overflowing...

Ok, so maybe I'm crazy but I've bought little things here and there to throw together into a basket, but I've also gotten some things that my DD and DS have been wanting. They only receive "toys" on their birthday or a holiday so I do tend to go overboard with the things they continue to say they want. I have spent about $50.00 EACH and DS wants a DSi game for 20.00!!! Am I crazy???? :confused3

My DD 3 will be getting Princess and Frog, new spongebob dvd, Hallmark exclusive Fluffy the Bunny zhu zhu pet, easter puzzle, and candy not so much chocolate but like ring pops and push pops are her new faves and probably there will be more added the closer it gets.

NO WAY MOM!!!! I got an Easter basket every year until I left home....I was 24 when I moved out (I lived at home while I wen to college :)). If I were your DD and didn't get a basket, I would be upset that the bunny forgot me :(

DS7 is getting a Transformers Tshirt, DD6 is getting a Charlie and Lola coloring book, and DS2 is getting a small Duplo set. My sister usually sends them a box of goodies, so DH and I don't usually end up getting them much. No candy here, because I know I will end up eating most of it, and I certainly don't need those calories!

I'm way overboard too, but I do it every year for every holiday. DD is an only child and I just can't help myself. This year her basket contains tickets to Phantom of the Opera (her fav and we are headed to Baltimore over spring break for that), the Barbie Mermaid movie, a new bathingsuit and goggles, the Phantom soundtrack, sidewalk chalk, some Princess & the Frog Lip glosses, a peacock webkinz and a chocolate bunny. The Easter Bunny will hide eggs with little candies too :)

DD has a thing for broadway shows, started last year when we went to NYC for Easter and saw Little Mermaid. And she'll get another tix for Cmas since I just got an email that Lion King is headed our way this winter :cool1:.

I have barely started shopping...I'd better get a move on for ds12! So far I just have summer pajamas and the latest 39 Clues book. I'll probably add an I-tunes gift card, a giant bag of licorice (he doesn't like chocolate), swim trunks, a swim shirt, money in eggs, and whatever else I come across in Target I think he might like...he's my only, too, and I've always picked up too much -- it's harder to do that now I'm buying electronics instead of power rangers!

I went overboard with candy this year. Since I have 5 kids, if I spent $40 per basket that would be $200 right there so instead of doing a bunch of little outdoor things like I usually do I just got them each a bunch of their favorite candies and a big chocolate bunny for their baskets, then I got a bounce house for all of them to share. I also plan on adding $10 to each of their McDonald's gift cards that they got for Christmas because it really cuts down on the whining to go there all the time and will probably save me money in the end.

To fellow holiday over spenders, "My name is gramma, and I have a spending problem."

So, I finally decided last month to get things in order. I have 1 daughter (spoiled) and two grandsons(even MORE spoiled). For easter, I got my daughter a mini hipster from the Vera Bradley site, on sale for $14.48, that I will put some candy in. For my grandsons, they each get a $9.99 Buzz Lightyear, a Toy Story egg and some candy, (dove milk chocolate eggs). I will also give them each $5 to save for WDW in June. My son in law will get hot tamales and snickers bars.

This is SO hard, but I have to do it!

My DS7 is such a snob that all the candy he wants comes from Fresh Market. So far I've spent $18 and really have bought nothing. He's not a big candy eater. All I was planning to get was some kit kats, a movie and a new pair of pj pants (bunny always brings jammies according to DH). He also asked what we were getting him for Easter. I had to explain that Easter is not a gift giving occasion.

HAHA. We took DD6 to see the Easter Bunny on Friday after school and boy did she have her list ready. I had to explain to her that this isn't like Santa :rotfl2:
