"I think I need my head examined" A camsmomE TR in AUG 2010 <<Updated 11/02/10>&g

It was great thx! My boys are now just as addicted as I am. My DH thinks we are all against him. :lmao: It all went smoothly and suprisingly with out incident until our last night there! My oldest tripped in EP and hit his head on the drums set up just after the Bridge past China. We took him to First Aid by TT and they called the Clinic transport and they took us there. The Dr's glued his forehead closed and shipped us right back to EP to continue touring! :thumbsup2 He was fine by the time we got to France and enjoyed some French Ice Cream. :) But was upset because he was looking forward to one last swim in the CBR pool! I would have been a mess if it wasn't for my DH he truly saved me. I dont handle bleeding wounds so well. & I still for the live of me cant figure out what he could have hit, there was nothing sharp anywhere on the drums?

I'm glad you had a great trip! Minus the trip to the clinic! We ended up going to the clinic last year with our oldest daughter. She had MRSA...fun, fun. I will say that the First Aid station's are amazing! And the transport was great, too. I'm gladyour son was able to continue back at the park!

Oh WOW! I'm glad he's alright! I think I would have lost my mind. Want a little irony? The reason for the title of this TR is because I banged my own head pretty hard the day we were leaving too! I tried not to think about it at all that day, then as I was driving back home on I4 that night, I reached back and felt the back/right side of my head because it was throbbing, and sure enough! huge ball 'o pain! That's when I said to Mike "I think I need my head examined." and he looked over at me and said "Why do you set me up like this- it's just too easy..." :lmao::lmao:

Thx!
:lmao: OMG I'm so sorry about your head but my DH would have said the EXACT same thing to me!!! I set myself up all time for his comments;)

Thx! That just sounds horrible! What is MRSA and how did she get it there? The First Aid was VERY helpful. There was a very nice man there that kept my youngest occupied with crayons and water. And the transport was a very nice feature since we had parking at the Boardwalk and walked to EP. Thats what I was freaking out about that the truck was SO very far way!

MRSA is an antibiotic resistant staph infection. Something that has unfortunately went through my family before so I knew what it was and that she had to get antibiotics ASAP. It's painful and I felt so bad. Once she got some antibiotics in her she felt better thankfully. I don't know how she got it? It can be really hard to tell. And I was wondering how we would get to a hospital, without calling an ambulance, since we didn't have a car with us. So figured we would go right to a park in the AM to First Aid. It actually worked out really well that way! And since it was pouring when we were done our driver brought us right back to our resort and walked us to the doors with an umbrella!

How does one go 31 years on this planet without having ever been on a water slide? Well... [insert chicken noises here]. I'm not much of a thrill seeker, and I usually HATE situations where I am not in 100% control. More on this later.

Thursday morning on day four (our declared "resort day), it's 6am and I am wide awake. My lovely travelling companions are snoring. So I do what any self-respecting, genius woman would do... I got up, got ready, and headed out without them! I strolled into Roaring Forks at 6:45am, grabbed a cup of coffee, and headed to the pool area. When I got there I noticed 3 guys that had the same idea, so the four of us (not speaking to each other at all) lounged on pool chairs, sipping our coffee (a couple reading the paper) and staring at the gorgeous pool. Yes, there was a cute family of ducks taking their morning swim too! At this point I took a picture of my toes with the pool scene in the background with my phone and sent it to facebook- I couldn't let my family miss out on this moment! Ahhhh. Peace.

Around 8-ish I started missing my loves, so I grabbed a second cup of coffee, and one for Mike, and headed back to the room. When I walked through the door, they were just starting to stir. My plan was to let them wake up and get ready as slowly as they wanted, but as soon as I said "swim in the pool," Cameran was all aboard. You see, the only pool Cam's ever even seen was the blow-up whale kiddie pool I bought at Wal-mart last year and set up in our backyard. This was a first for her (I had not "planned" any other firsts for anyone else at this point...)

We all got into our suits and gathered water wings, the life vest, the sunblock, the cameras (all three), and Good Lord! who knows what else, and headed to the pool at 9am

We hung out for about 20 minutes in the kiddie pool (how beautiful is that water!!!) before Cameran started saying "pool? pool?" and pointing to "the real pool." It didn't take much begging for us to give in (after I loaded Cam up with so many flotation devices that an elephant on her back couldn't sink her...) and we jumped right into the main pool, ducks and all!

You didn't believe me about the ducks, did you?

While we were all in the main pool, I kept looking over at the slide... How inviting and intriguing it looked! Mike FINALLY convinced me that it was time to put aside those childish fear and GO STAND IN LINE WITH THE FIVE-YEAR-OLDS ALREADY! :lmao: 5 minutes later I stood in that line, shaking like a leaf, 5-year-old, 5-year-old, 5-year-old, ME, 5-year-old... They are laughing and giggling, I'm close to tears. but... down I go, holding my nose the whole way, for a split second I saw Mike and Cam waiting at the bottom, rooting me on, splash! I did it! And then I did it again 3 more times- what a great slide!

About an hour later, Cameran waved "bye-bye' to the pool, and led us to the playground on the beach. on the way there however... PHOTOPASS GUY!!!
Photo0092.jpg

Obviously, I'm leaving out TONS of pics that he took because, let's face it, My DH is the only one of us with any common sense (he put his clothing on before the photog started clicking away) and LORD! I am not showing too many "mommy/daughter bikini pics" on the world wide web! Now... Where's that playground?

TO BE CONTINUED...

The ducks swimming with you guys are adorable!!!!!

And yay for you going down the slide!!!!!!!!!

Love the pool pics! Having a resort day is great for getting re-energized for the parks. Your daughter is totally gorgeous!

What a fun undate! Love the fact that you got up and headed out, good for you!

I felt like I was right there with you by the pool with a cup of coffee....that sounds like absolute heaven to me:cloud9: We have gone to WCC for dinner on 3 separate trips and everytime we arrive, there are ducks in the pool:cool1:

Glad you shared your resort day with us:goodvibes

Just read the whole thing!

Loving your TR! Your little girl is AWWW-dorable!

The poo-pee, stoller flying, sippy cup spilling story is up there as the all time hardest I've laughed at a TR on the DIS. EVER!

That so could have been me.

I have numerous pictures of diaper blow outs my youngest son had while my DH was holding him. Something I found hysterical... but the hubby not so much. He's holding our son out away from him, yelling at me to get the wet wipes and help him and I'm too busy running to get the camera!

:lmao:

Thank you for sharing!
Can't wait to read the rest!

great update! i'm so happy we have a "resort" day on this upcoming trip! i'm so ready for coffee by the pool followed by a nice relaxing swim in said pool!

Congrats on conquering your waterslide fears!

The last time DH and I went to Disney we went to Typhoon Lagoon for the first (and only) time. I also have issues with waterslides, so I decided to go one one of the shorter ones first just to warm myself up. Well, my dumb butt hit the bottom of the 5ft slide going about 180 and dragged my toe knuckles across the rough concrete on the pool floor, basically ripping them to hamburgery shreds. So while I'm dragging myself out of the water bleeding and ashamed, a CM started yelling at me to get out of the pool because I was getting blood in it. *sigh* :headache:

Oh, and later, we did the snorkeling thing but I couldn't do it because my butt wouldn't stop floating. Seriously.

No more water parks for me.

I'm sorry Joni, but I am sitting here like this: :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

In continuation...

Did we reach the playground? Yep. Here we are!
DSC_0136-4.JPG

Oh MAN that slide was HOT! but she HAD to try it... once.
DSC_0135-1.JPG

I took a lot of really beautiful shot of Cam from this little playground (a few shown below) but honestly, because the equipment was so stinkin' hot, we left in about 10 minutes.

So about 10 minutes later- I had a date with a flatbread! (Roaring Forks for Lunch.) I ordered (for me and Cam) a cheese flatbread, a salad (used an additional snack credit), and some ice cream that you serve yourself. Mike had a double cheeseburger with fries and some ice cream.

I only took pictures of mine/Cam's for some reason... maybe Mike was already eating his, I can't remember. After a great lunch (where we FINALLY discovered the toppings bar), we wandered arounf the lobby for a while

then went back to our room at about 1pm and took a much needed shower/bath/nap.

Next Up: dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe and Cameran's First Parade!

Your pool pic's of your daughter are so adorable! Looking forward to hearing about the first "parade" :goodvibes

OMG :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: You killing me!!!!!!!

Sounds just like what happens to my MIL in the pool!! I guess some folks are floaters! Not me.... I sink like a rock.

I can relate about the water slides. I liked them when I was in high school, but as I got older, I have gotten more and more leery of heights and drops. You won't find me on the crushin' gusher any more than you won't find me on the Tower of Terror of Expedition Everest.

I am very surprised by the ducks. I didn't know ducks liked chlorinated water!

It was a great idea to give yourselves a resort day. If were had stayed at our DVC resort this trip, we would have done so too. Pop Century is a fine resort, but the pool isn't the "hang around all day" type, but I could relax by the pool at Saratoga Springs all day long.

We once ended up in the Magic Kingdom Infirmary in the evening on the trip in 2007 with my sister and her son. My nephew was 10 years old and just wasn't guzzling the large lemonades with our meal plan meals like we were. Late in the evening, he got really nauseus and was throwing up. They took good care of him. We had to slowly get him to drink some Powerade which has the electrolytes in it. So its better than plain water. It took quite some time because he had to sip very slowly or he'd throw up. We were there quite late, but eventually he felt better and we were able to go back to our resort. From then on, we made sure he was drinking as much as possible. In those days, the meal plan meals included large drinks. I don't know about now.

when last we met (which was about a week ago... I am SO sorry, I have had my plate full ...overflowed ...then fell on the floor, lol) anyway, we were in the middle of enjoying our resort day, napping, bathing, etc...

Around 5:45pm Cameran let us know that she was fully ready for dinner... NOW. So we decided to head down to dinner 45 minutes early (and see what would happen) Here's Cameran, dressing in Tink gear, and Mickey lollipop ready to go.
DSC_0166-3.JPG

we arrived downstairs at Whispering Canyon Cafe minutes later and checked in for our 6:30 reservation (at about 6). We were seated in 4 minutes. Once seated, we assembled some of Cameran's glow necklace/bracelets to keep ourselves occupied because we already knew exactly what we'd be ordering- thank you Allearsnet.com! We also colored with 17,000 crayons in a little bucket, hahaha
DSC_0179.JPG

Our waitress was QUITE awesome, although I cannot remember her name, and I still can't find that dern journal. I ordered a bottomless chocolate milkshake, and Mike ordered a vanilla milkshake, Cam had juice, and we ordered for all of us... the skillet. This included salad (horrible), cole slaw (only good if you LOVE cumin), corn on the cob, beans (hard and gross), mashed potatoes, brisket, ribs, chicken, and sliced pork with a basket of cornbread (which was amazing). Thank God this meal is all-you-can-eat because I kept ordering BOWLS of mashed potatoes and corn bread, since it's all I would eat. Cameran would only eat corn from the b=cob and mashed potatoes, and Mike would only eat the chicken, which I thought was the worst thing I've ever had... no wait, that was the cole slaw. Here are some deceiving photos.

I had two loaves of this by myself...

DSC_0185-1.JPG

We asked to have dessert wrapped up because we were too full, and she came back with our desserts, AND an entire skillet meal wrapped up to take back to our room for tomorrow! See what I mean by her amazing-ness?! This would have been awesome IF we liked the food. haha. I ordered the smores cheesecake (which was pretty good, but not "wow") and Mike ordered the Bourbon Pecan Pie (which went like this: bite, bite, trash)

DSC_0190-1.JPG

After dinner, we put the food back in the room, and waited at the boat dock (not more than 10 minutes) for a boat to the Magic Kingdom for tonight's parade.
DSC_0193-2.JPG

Important to know that while we were waiting at the dock, it started to drizzle, so on the boat ride over, I got out the ponchos and covered Mike and I in those horrible, cheap, Dollar Store ponchos, and Cam wore her pink Minnie poncho. We were READY!

To Be Continued...

You know, on the DIS Unplugged Podcast, they said Whispering Canyon was bad but I was still considering it for my next trip. Now that you said its bad too, its going on the "if everything else is booked" list lol. Thanks for the review!
