Today I called to make a "room" only reservation. Now, my dh is interested in one of the dining packages. Can I purchase tickets with dining now or is it too late?

You should be able to call back and upgrade your room only reservation to a package. Give them a call back.

I once booked a room only rate online through the Disney website, and then I tried to add dining and tickets to it. I was told that I couldn't because I was given a great rate because it was a room only rate. I would have had to cancel the room only rate and rebook as a package.

I decided to keep my room only rate and buy my tickets separate.

But it never hurts to check yourself. Maybe I would have gotten a different answer from another Disney person!

you can ad Dining Packages when you check in if you like. If you are lookning for MYW packages, then i think you have to rebook.

Unless they've changed it this year, I believe you have to add DDP prior to arrival date. Something like 7-10 days comes to mind. I remember this subject being discussed, at length, last year prior to the free DDP announcement (expected in April).

As to adding it to your reservation, you can. Last year I booked my room a few days before announcement was expected and then when they made the announcement I called and rebooked it.

I'm sure someone on these boards will know the exact time frame.

I would call them back and make your changes.

Disney will ALMOST ALWAYS gladly accept more of your money.

The Dining Plan must be booked within 3 or 4 days of checkin..

I've moved this over to the Resorts & Booking Board.

I had a room only reservation, then yesterday I decided that I wanted a package. I called to see if I could add the dining plan to my room only reservation and was told no, that I had to add at least a one day park ticket in order to add the dining plan. I really didn't want any park tickets, but I ended up getting the one day park ticket plus dining plan. However, I was told they had to cancel my room only reservation and book a whole new package. I had to put down a $200 deposit for the package and Disney will refund my money for the room only ressie.

We added our deluxe dining plan through our travel ag. She told us the same thing 7 to 10 days prior.

To add a dining plan to a room only res, the agent will have to cancel your existing room only res and rebook it as a package.

The dining plan is part of a package including a room at full rate, at least 1 day base tickets, and dining.

It has to be added 48 hours or more prior to check in... within 48 hours the system won't allow a dining plan to be added.

The reason I know? It's my job :cutie:

What kind of room-only rate did you book? If it was discounted, then no, you cannot just add on the DP. If you booked one of those special promotion 20-40% off coded rates or AAA, then you will have to forfeit that special rate and buy your room at rack rate to add a package.

If you are a AAA member and booked a AAA rate, you CAN book a package with dining THROUGH AAA. You CAN have the AAA room rate and add tickets and dining by calling the # on the back of your AAA card. Then you would cancel your room-only rate through CRO. I just did this myself for my upcoming April trip. As far as I know, this is the only way to book a package WITH a discount AT THIS TIME. Keep in mind that Disney does sometimes offer discounted packages for certain dates. These boards are the best way to find out about these, best thing to do is to check here daily.
