My DD11 was Trick or Treating last night with 2 friends. They ran ahead of the Dads and ended up at a haunted house. There were teens dressed up like gorillas and the owner of the house had a scary mask. The owner grabbed my daughter's halloween bag and went into the house with it. Luckily, my DD knew one of the teens (from playing hockey) and asked him to get her candy back. A little girl about 3 years old, dressed like a Princess, brought the bag back to my DD. It was missing half of the candy she had collected. When she asked what had happened, the teen explained that they were running out of candy and didn't want to shut the haunted house down.

As a parent, what would you have done in this situtation?

I would have said something to the guy that stole the candy. It would have one thing to ask but to just basically steal your daughter's candy isn't right.

I'd have confronted the man and demanded the candy back. If he didn't return it I'd call the police. What he did was theft plain and simple.

What did your daughter think of the situation and what did she say?
That was not fair for her to collect all that candy and for something like that to happen.

What an odd thing to have happen! I definitely would have confronted the parent, if DD was upset about it.
