I think I have a leash baby!

I love this thread! what a hoot. I'm still laughing.

tiff211 btw, gorgeous kids! wow! weddings. . .hehe

anywho! #6 is our challenge, you know, the fiesty one. . .

never have done the leash thing but I keep looking at them in wal-mart every time I go! hehe

last time she made us take her out of the cart and put her into a display wagon (which thank goodness was on clearnace for $19.00 bucks) and then refused to get out of it and back into car. . .yeah.

does wet noodle include sound effects? 'nough said!

let us know how it works, I'll be on the bandwagon soon!

oh! I've only seen boring ones or bear ones, elmo would be great, 'cause elmo on our diapers are a favorite topic!

still chuckling!

both my kids tried running off tried the leash and still got the wet noodle out of ds. I tried this with dd and it works. GO in a store you are familar with it was belks with us and let them run off and stay just out of their site. but keep them in yours and let them lose you. don't go to them until they cry. shoow anyone away that tries to help and then give big hugs and tell them how easy it is to get lost and I promise they will keep you in thier site at all times. worked with both of mine. and my DD is 18 no harm done she is very independant to this day but did not have to look for her anymore from running off ( and hiding in the racks of clothes)and DS same way he is 9 and still if I get out of his site he say MOM? in a loud voice. it is :wizard: I tell ya!!

i bought a monkey harness at walmart. it has a monkey on the back with a tiny pocket and dd absolutely loved it. calls it her monkey backpack. i had the elmo one before as well but i liked this one better.

she was 2yrs 3 months on that trip. next trip she'll have just turned 3 and i think she probably won't need it again.

they have a dog one too. i saw loads of them in disney.

I have one for my 2 year old. He pulls the same moves -- limp as a noodle if you hold his hand and stiff as a board when you try to sit him in the stroller! I haven't used the leash yet, but I have it for our upcoming trip in May! Gotta do what works for YOUR kid and keep them safe!

Jessica, it looks like we'll just miss you guys :sad1: . DH, DS2 and I will be at OKW April 28-May 5. Oh yes, and we're bringing a leash just in case!

I definitly think I also have a Leash Baby. He is #4 son and will not stay with us he in fact actively hides from us in stores if he gets free, and will not answer when we call to him. This is the most scary. He screams if put in a stroller and has learned how to undo the 5 point harness system and climbs out on his own also turns to a very LOUD wet noodle if holding hands or will walk in front of me tripping me long enough for me to loossen my grip and he's off.

I have never had to use a leash for my 3 oldest. They would either ride in the stroller when we went anywhere or would hold my hand. DD18 months, HATES to ride in the stroller while everyone else is walking around her and she refuses to hold anyones hand. I can't think of anytime she has let me or DH hold her hand as she walks. If you take her hand, her legs become jello as she crumples to the floor. So, we can either let her walk right in front of us or pick her up. She prefers the first one of course.

we are heading to the world next month and I know she is not going to be happy in the stroller. There are way too many people to let her walk without holding our hand so I am thinking of the backpack leash. I see people with. I have never ruled them out or felt like one was treating their child like an animal.

Do you use the leash for your child?

I see why you had so many girls. You sure made some gorgous ones!!!

First, thanks for never being the kind of mom that glares at me when I take DS (just turned 3) to a mall, theme park or other crowded place with his doggy backpack on. I am convinced it has saved his life a couple of times. I forgive those glaring parents though because until you have experienced caring for a child like this, it is hard to understand why you can't just make him/her walk and hold your hand or ride in a stroller. Btw, my son is a sweet, loving, smart but curious and impulsive preschooler...but when I have ddmths in the sling, ds3 and ds4 (who doesn't run off but tends to lag behind sometimes) with me....I need a little help making sure ds3 stays safe. Good luck and have fun on your trip!

I just bought that one last night. Plan to give it a test run. She is still too young to explain it to her. DH is not too happy about the idea.

Our DD doesn't need one. she will either hold our hand, stay in the stroller, or carry her. Enjoy the world with a leash!

I bought the Eddie Bower Harness Buddy from Target about 2 weeks ago and BOTH my DD1.5 and I love it. It costs $10 and they have a couple of animals to choose from (dog, bear).

We definitely practiced with it at home (marching around in a parade) and only use it for "special walking" (i.e, we make a big deal about it so DD will feel special with it)...and she does. When we go out, she asks for her "doggie" and will often reach back and pet him. She also decided that she wants to hold onto the leash as well with her hand -- just like mommy.

The other moms in our mom group thought I was a little weird until they saw how good it worked for us...now 3 out of 9 of us have one so far!

I definitely think this is one of those things you need to use prior to a trip and make your child feel special with it.

.

I didn't need a leash with my children, but I remember my Mom using it with my younger sister. I'm sure it may have saved my sisters life and definately my Moms sanity. That same sister has HAD to use a leash with one of her children, I see nothing wrong with it. Do what makes you feel safe and enjoy Disney!
