Just received a signed Ilene Woods framed pic from ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLD-FRAME-...ollectibles_Animation_Art&hash=item565da1135e

I noticed that the sig on mine is EXACTLY like the one in the ebay pic. Sounds great, right? Well he says that the ebay pic is just a representative pic and that sigs may vary a little. I find it highly unlikely that I happen to get the same pic as the one on ebay. He has sold several over the past couple months with the same photo. I think I just got a copy, not the original. It even comes with a COA but I guess I can't even trust that. I'm soooo ticked. How can I be confident that I'm getting a legit one? How do you know you're getting a legit one and not a copy?

It LOOKS ok but I shuddered when I saw the sellers name......

I had trouble with him years ago. I was selling a few of my own sericels, just one of this, one of that. HE was selling the same one. So he "bought" mine, never paid for it. It was December, a good time to sell sericels. It took me weeks to get the clearance to re-list it, but by then it was after Christmas, and I took a hit on the amount of $$ it sold for. I had emails proving it was him that did it (different screen names but I did some detective work). He blocked my sale, which is really shady. I lost over $70.

At the time, Ebay could not help me, because he emailed me his "confessions" via AOL, and at that time, AOL did not track emails with internet tags (not sure the correct word to describe it).

I hope it is ok in your case. (In my situation, he was selling the same sericel, but it was not a phony or anything)/

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking about taking the paper backing off and seeing if the gold ink is legit. I should be able to feel a difference between the gold ink and photo right? If I can't then it could be a copy. He does have a couple auctions that have different sigs than mine. We will see. I think I'll avoid this guy in the future.

Right now I'm going to assume it's the original. At least it LOOKS to be original. I haven't taken it out of the frame yet. I just studied the ink through the glass. I'm hesitant to peel off the paper backing. Will I definitely be able to tell if the gold ink is original or not? The guy has a 100% rating and he specializes in Disney animation so right now I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm very happy for you! It's a great piece of Disney history!!!

If you are worried about it and you paid via paypal, you can file a claim via paypal if the seller will not let you return the item

1. Do you want to return the item?

2. I wouldn't be too worried that it's the exact same one in the listing. While there may be different variations of the signature, if everything was signed at the private signing, the person directing it (that is, the person who paid for the private signing) would have probably told Ms. Woods where to sign it so that it would be in the same general area.

I think that most autograph dealers who have the same item with same signature will say that the picture is "representative" of the one you will receive because of that very reason.

I guess my slam on him has disappeared by now.
