Purchasing your DVC points does not include WDW park entry does it?

We are considering this for next year but I am confused. Is there a "DVC for Idiots" thread anywhere in here?

You're not an idiot. At one time, you did get admission, but not as of 98, I think. Anyway, No, no admission.....but, you do lock in a price for some of the most luxurious rooms on property or in the Orlando area.

76 - offsite
98 - Ft Wilderness Cabins
99 - CBR
00 - HH DVC
4/01 offsite
12/01 BWV

Park entry is not included with buying into DVC. The original folks who bought into OKW were given passes to the parks thru 2000 but this perk is now expired. I am not sure if they will ever do that again since sales are doing well without giving away the farm.

Here's some info from Pete Werner to help get you started

DVC FAQ

and you can also look at www.disneyvacationclub.com

Of course, former "idiots" like me will be glad to help answer any and all questions. Between us we probably have most answers!

As you've been told, there is no pass program but DVC members get 10% off UMPs, 10% off the water parks, DQ and PI and there is also a special pass for DVC members only that allows you to use 5 days per year for four of the next 5 years. None of these programs works for my needs (prefer AP), but you might find them useful.

And DVC offers exchanges through other timeshare programs. Also, there are DVC at Hilton Head and Vero Beach. I've not yet tried them, but Dean, who frequently posts here, is an expert. He probably can tell you everything about DVC as well. Most everyone who posts here is positive about their DVC ownership. I've also owned since '92. The park admission program, based on size of accommodation and # of people in your party, expired last year.

PAM WHAT IS THIS SPECIAL PASS YOU REFER TO FOR DVC MEMBERS ONLY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO USE 5 DAY PER YEAR FOR FOUR OF THE NEXT 5 YEARS??????

hi to all: don't worry about asking questions; that's how we all learned and benefitted from the dvc veterans. kpatches- what pam was referring to is the magic years pass offered to dvc members. i forget the specific details as to money; i think it was around $700ish per person. it really depends on your vacation habits and whether you want to give the money to disney up front like that. it doesn't work out for us because we try to go twice a year for one week at a time. even if we are not going to be spending time in the parks, we may go to a particular restaurant for a meal which would "use up" one of our days. annual passes work out well for us; we get 14-21 days of use per pass. there were several threads on this a few months ago when it was initially offered. i think it was in a previous vacation magic.

Magical Years Pass (just started at the end of last year for DVC members only) Adults or Children - $749 per person. It also includes some small discounts but the "meat" is:

For 4 of the next 5 years - 5 days per year admission to MK, Epcot, AK, MGM with flexibility to visit all parks on the same day. The choice of two other options per year from: PI, Water Parks, or WWofSports.

Mooses,

Why didn't you like the pass? Price sounds okay, I think.

Whether or not the new pass is a good deal depends largely on your vacation habits and the length of time you stay at a WDW DVC resort.

It seems like for a large majority of the people that frequent this board, the pass is not a good deal. Personally, I think it's closer to an insult than a good deal, however, each person will need to "run the numbers" to see if it really makes sense for them. I'm pretty certain I saw a good argument when this pass was first announced that simply purchasing four 5-day park hopper passes is a better deal.

One approach that we use to try and maximize our park admission dollar is the AP. We usually stay for 2 weeks in the summer. The year that we purchase the pass we will make our ressie for a few weeks after school gets out. The following year we back the ressie up 2 weeks. This allows us to get 2 years worth of vacation off one pass. Just an idea that seems to work well for us. :)

dido what firefighter mickey said. It comes out to 37.45 a day (749 divided by 20 total park admissions). Thats like a couple bucks off the regular admission price. If I'm going to buy a pass that'll commit me to going to disney 5 days a year for 4 of the next 5 years(without going to parks more than 8 days((the ap would be a better deal)), then I want a better deal that that. But i guess for a few members who just happen to be going to the parks for 5-8 days for 4 of the next 5 years, it would be an ok deal.
