I swear this review of the Polynesian has me checking into organ transplant sales. Either that or I gotta get the credit limit on my Disney Visa raised significantly! Jade marble bathrooms, Concierge Service, Lagoon/Castle View...

:rotfl:

Just finished listening to the review and so excited since we'll be there in 12 days!!

As someone who has donated a kidney to his wife so she does not have to be on dialysis, please do not use that phrase.

It is illegal to sell any organs for transplant. People who donate do it out of love and expect nothing else in return. If you saw your spouse hooked up to a machine every night for 10 hours just to stay alive you would have a different view on things.

Please be careful of the words you use, they could be hurtful to others.

Hummm, he might have been kidding. Lets face it, even if he wanted to sell his kidney it might be hard to pull off with getting a doctor to take it out and then finding a buyer on the black market.

I agree it isn't funny though. I knew this guy who knew this guy who went to Vegas. He met a girl at the bar and took her back to his room. He must have been drugged or something because he woke up in a bathtub filled with ice and a sign over his head that said don't move and call 9-1-1.

What is this world coming to.

That is a false story, it has been around for years.

Anyway...

The Poly's concierge lounge sounds fabulous! We'll be there in a little less than a year! :cool1:

I think I'm not alone in saying there are many of us who have loved ones with kidney failure. My mother being one of them, on top of liver and adrenal disease. That being said...

can you say "eggshells"?

I'm really tired of having to watch every word that comes out of my mouth for fear of "offending" someone (and I know I am not alone). 99% of the time "offending" = someone looking for any excuse to get up on his/her soapbox.

***waiting for the soapboxes to stack a mile high now***

I see nothing wrong with people using phrases in a lighthearted way. Anyone want to get up on a soapbox about me using the word "lighthearted"? :confused3 These days you literally have to watch every word and every innocent meaning thought you say or write. It's getting so bad that we're not going to be able to utter a word in the not so near future.

We're adults here. We get it when it's mean spirited and when it's not. Everyone has at least a marginal amount of common sense. But being the pc society we live in - and everyone afraid of offending everyone under the sun(who know it thus this is why it's happening so often now) - are reason why this happens way too much.

and this is why the rest of us are left with a headache by rolling our eyes behind our collective screens. yes, it's true.

I agree i realy don't care if i offend someone or not if someone comes at me saying " THATS OFFINSIVE CHANG IT!" like has been done oh so many times just say two words screw you.

I think the OP is funny made me laugh :rotfl:

I don't think it was meant in an offensive way. I think it was just a turn of phrase, it was not meant to trivialise any serious illness or your experience of them in any way. I get upset when people call each other 'spastic', 'retarded' or anything like that, because i work with both kids and adults with learning disabilities. However, i understand that to some people its just a turn of phrase, and they don't mean anything derogatory about anyone with a learning disability.

I know it can be upsetting, but I don't think its fair to have a go at someone who was clearly just using a common expression, and obviously meant no malicious intent. When i see things i don't like, i just don't post.

I cant wait to listen. I had to work today *gasp*

On the other note. It was a "phrase, saying, whatever you want to call it" not literal. Lighten up just a bit.

PS. My mom did die of kidney failure and I am not offended. At all.

:sad2: I am fully aware of that Larry Literal. It was a joke. Maybe someone needs a funny bone transplant.

Sad part is, because of false stories like that people actually believe they are true and will not donate because of it.

I have talked to many people who believe that if they are in an accident that the paramedics will not treat them just so they can die and get their organs. 1,000% WRONG! They see TV shows where someone needs a kidney and the doctors tell them if they do not donate now their loved one will die! What a false image that puts out there.

I do understand it was meant as being funny, but when you see small kids die because they did not get a transplant your view of things changes quickly.

I challenge everyone to donate a kidney now, there are over 80,000 people waiting for one. What a wonderful world it would be if the waiting list was at zero.

I think this is akin to saying "I'd give my first born", "I'd pay an arm and a leg" and "I'd sell my soul". It's hyperbole and little else

No one truly believes that anyone would "sell a kidney" to stay at the Poly and for anyone to be hurt by that phrase is hard for some folks to understand.

As someone who has withstood more than his share of derogatory slurs, I would suggest that you might be further ahead by trying to see the humor in what was said.

I understand that this is a very personal thing to you, but I think you need to realize it's just that....a personal thing.

I also think you must consider intent when considering whether a phrase is hurtful. There are words that can hurt when used by someone meaning to be hurtful that will mean nothing when said by a friend in a joking way.

We're better off when we all try to be understanding of one another.

you could always go dumpster divin for copper!!!

I hear thats worth some mooolaaaaaa:laughing:

Awww Kevin, gimme a hug.
:teeth:

OT: I was listening to the email show right when you said "I have a rant" and it cut off and went to "Dancing Queen" (the next song on my playlist) I thought you had a rant about "Mamma Mia" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: It took me a second to figure it out.

Yes, for the record I am a nut job!

I truly hear you.... I think we are all hear to have fun and to goof around, take our minds off the cruel, unforgiving, disappointments in life. IMO if something offends me I stop reading that thread and keep going.....just take a deep breath!!!

Unless some one is reaching out for support or say "hey no I am serious!" Most likely it is meant with sarcasim, face it we are he to laugh and enjoy each others company!!

so everyone with me deep breath in........ hold it......... and release

see now don't we all feel better;)
