I survived the pit bull but the small white cat took me down...

I guess this is your DD's cat & you-all are keeping it? If I were in your shoes, I think I would never again trust that cat. I would not allow children to play with it or get up next to it, especially their faces.

He's the family cat. DD20 still lives at home and has had him since she was 4.

Until now, he was the perfect cat for small children. He has one blue eye/one green eye and, as many cats with that combination are, is deaf. Not being able to hear kids screaming, sudden crashes, and loud noises that would startle an ordinary cat has made him exceptionally gentle and tolerant all these years. Things didn't scare him b/c he didn't hear them so he was always very kind and gentle. DD20 has a huge album of him dressed in doll clothes, santa outfits, costumes, and in various containers over the years looking just as happy to be there as she was to take the picture.

We'd never have expected this of him and just don't have any explanation, other than to think that I must have stepped on him without realizing it. The younger DD9 and I are still giving him his space however just in case...

We had a white cat who was deaf, he's mentioned in my signature.

agnes!

The blood work looked good, no indications of any problems. The vet was puzzled by his behavior too. The only thing we can figure out is that something must have frightened him. He probably sleeps 23 out of 24 hrs these days and, whatever his inner demon was, it seems to have passed without further incident. Even though neither DH or I think so, I still have to wonder if maybe I stepped on his tail or something without realizing it... :confused3

My legs are still tender, but healing. Thank heavens I'm older now b/c I'm pretty sure this is gonna leave scars.

Could have it been a really bad static shock? I've heard of cats going nuts after people touch their cats and shock them by accident. Happens more in winter due to the really dry air. I've had shocks that make me feel like I just put a fork in a toaster, if it was that bad it could have set your kitty off. Just a theory!

OP, I'm so glad that you are healing. But I gotta tell you, the title of your thread makes me giggle everytime I read it:lmao:
