I sprained my foot & ankle

I somehow lost my footing last night and fell down the flight of stairs in my apartment (3 family home type set up). Yikes! I screamed and my boyfriend Chris (who I live with) and our neighbor both came running and got me back upstairs (I live on the 3rd floor). After some time went by and ice was not helping, Chris took me to the ER where it was determined I'd sprained my foot & ankle. I got an air cast and crutches and a note to stay out of work for a week (not fun because I have no back-up at work and thus will have to come back to piles and piles of catching up).

I still can barely walk , even with the crutches. I have poor upper body strength and it hurts to use the crutches. I already missed work and a fancy catered breakfast meeting today. Tomorrow work draws the winner of their raffle for Red Sox opening day tickets. If you win, and you're not there, you forfeit your win :(

As for the holiday weekend, Chris and I are supposed to go out for dinner and spend the day with my parents on Saturday. Sunday, we're going to do Easter with his family and watch the kids (neices and nephews) do an Easter Egg hunt. :( Hopefully I will be able to.I'm hoping to be better by Easter so I can enjoy this.

My 1 year old puppy doesn't understand why I can't chase him around and why he can't chew on my crutches and cast. :(

I suppose it could be worse, this could have happened the day before a WDW trip (which I know it has for some people :( ).

*sigh*

Sorry to whine, I just needed to vent. I hate feeling helpless. Thankfully, I have Chris here to help me and he's great but I just can't wait to be able to walk on my own again :(

Thank you. I'm trying to look on the bright side. I suppose I can get a lot of DIS time and reading done.

I feel your pain, I spraining my ankle a couple of weeks ago. Good news is that mine healed fairly quickly. I hope you feel better soon!

Big ouch!!! {{{{{HUGS}}}} to you and sure hope your ankle heals quickly.

I feel your pain. Crutches are no fun. I've fallen down twice since I started using them. Hope your sprain heals soon. And be careful on those crutches.

Thank you all for of your kind words and support. I am learning easier ways to get by on the crutches. My toes on my right foot were not that hurt and I can put some of the weight on the right foot using my toes and thus, using the crutches with 1.5 feet is easier than just one.

But oh I hope it heals up soon.

Thank you all!

Sending huge {{{hugs}}} your way. I've been there with ankle injuries, so I know where you're coming from. {{{Hugs}}}

I'm so sorry to hear aout your injury! I hope you are feeling 100% better very soon!

Oh no! Hope you feel better soon.

I did something like that once. It was painful and the doc said I'd have been better off if I had broken it instead(dunno if Towncrier would agree). Stay off of it and be careful with the crutches if you aren't steady with them--another fall would not be good.
Sit back, relax, and watch your post count rise:sunny:
