I shouldnt be suprised at this point...

I disagree! Did Allah have a son named Jesus who came to save the world from their sin? And Muhammad means nothing to me.

But Allah is simply the word for God in Arabic. An Arabic speaking person would use the word Allah regardless of whether they were Muslim or Christian. It's no different from a Christian in America using the English word God and a Christian in France using the French word "Dieu."

Jesus is an important figure in Islam. Not the savior, but an important prophet and one held in great reverance among the Muslims.

Regardless of what church, mosque, synagogue we go to, we all worship the same god. We just argue over little things like Jesus.

Bigger picture, when we die, we will meet the same being, in the same place (unless of course jews don't believe in heaven, not well schooled in that religion).

There isn't really a set belief about the afterlife in Judaism although it is generally believed there is one..Some believe in Heaven,So in ressurection and even some in reincarnation ..Judasm focus on actions in life and not on what happens afterwords

We think of jesus as a prophet. One who was to lead the Children of Israel to Allah. We believe Maryam(mary) did give birth to him, but he has no biological father. We do not believe he was crucified. We believed Allah made it look so to deceive those who persecuted him. We believe he was man. We believe that one day he will return to earth and defeat the Antichrist.

Tell me,do you think you worship a dfferent G-d than the G-d of the Jews.e Jews don't have a Jesus who is the son of G-d(except in the sense that we are all sons and daughters of G-d) who died to save the world from their sins.

Not Jimmie but I'll chime in here.

I do think I worship the same God as the Jews...I actually mentioned that to you on another thread...that if Jesus had never came I would be a Jewish convert.

However, I don't think I worship the same god as the Muslims. I don't know much about the Muslim faith but in the past hour or so I've been reading about it online. I think Muslims may think we're all worshiping the same god, but their description of who God is doesn't seem to fit with the personality that God has revealed in the OT and NT.

How could a man have no biological father or return to earth to defeat the Antichrist? What do you believe about Mohammad? Will he return too?

As a christian, you should think of Muhammad as the "false prophet".

As an enlightened person, you should see him as one of the central figures in Islamic beliefs.

I'm wonderng where you are researching. I find Islam and Judaism have the same problem the net..Tons of sites by people that are neither Muslim nor Jew trying to explain the beliefs of said religion, often interpreted with their own biases.
In my experience Jewish beliefs customs and practices are much more simlar to those of Islam than those of Christianty ..That is not a knock at Chrsitinity, I just see far more similarities between Judasm and Islam than Judaism and Chrstianty

HUh? Christians don't believe Jesus had a biological father either....This os one of the man reasons Jesus can't be the Jewish messiah. He has no trbal affilation, let alone that of the davidic line

In all fairness, it isn't a fact that gay people are born that way. It isn't a fact it is a choice to be homosexual. If you are talking about you, and only you, then i think it is a fair question, but not otherwise.

I do believe that homosexuality is a beautiful thing. Why? Because homosexuality isn't a disease, nor a curse. It is a gift. A gift given by god (I'll use your name). It is the greatest gift of all. True love. By being gay, one must defy public stereotypes, endure hatred and discrimination, and love with all one's heart. How many instances of domestic abuse do you see from gay couples? How many instances of divorce in those lucky couples who are married? How many instances of gays campaigning for the limitation of civil rights?

Speak of salvation. Speak of sin. Use these things to talk of Catholic priests. Use these things to talk of aldulterers. Use these things to talk of murderers and rapists and bigots. They are guilty of sin. They need salvation. Do not use these things to talk of people fairer than yourself.

First, I would like to say that I have enjoyed reading your responses and I agree with some things you've said, However, I was hurt by this line.

I understand that you were most likely referring to the fraction of Catholic priests who are guilty of horrible acts, but by listing "Catholic priests, adulterers, murderers, rapists and bigots" all in one bag here, you've basically convicted a whole group of people which is exactly what we are speaking out against in this particular thread.

Although I am no longer Catholic, and I do not believe in the catechism, nor am I satisfied with the Church's reaction to these disclosures (my cousin worked for an Arch Bishop as his publicist, and quit due to related issues) I am hurt that you would paint all priests with so broad a brush, especially because I know several of them, consider some of them friends, even though I no longer believe in their ideaology. I even have one in my family and I think he deserves to be judged on his own merits, not for the actions of others in the same profession anymore than I as a teacher should be judged because of the actions of Mary Kay Letorneau or Debra LeFave.

The site I've been reading for the past hour does have a Christian perspective, however, I do try to get a well rounded view of topics I research. The first site I quoted to Thizz was Muslim. That's also another reason why I welcome discussion with Thizz (and hopefully he doens't think I'm trying to be offensive). I have learned a lot from you on this site about the Jewish perspective and I'm interested in what Thizz has to say about his Muslim views.

Yes, that was the point I was trying to make. We don't believe Jesus was just a man, but that he was also God. I was wondering how if he was "just a man" like Muslims say he could do such things.

Gotcha...Sometimes I'm a lttle slow.
The Jewish Messiah will also do lots of amazing things while being just a man also

He was one of Allah's favorites in heaven, and Allah sent an angel to Mary to ask if she was a virgin. As in christianity, he was born divinely through mary, though he is not the son of god.The Qu'ran tells us he will descend from heaven when the Antichrist has come, and after defeating him he will marry and die, but not before he proclaims Islam as the true religion of Allah.

Muhammad is our most celebrated prophet. He was the last one sent to earth to deliver the message of Allah. Allah dictated the Qu'ran to him over a period of twenty three years. He will not return.

I apologize for that. I did indeed mean the priests who committed the horrific act of molestation. If I did offend anyone, I, again, am very sorry for that.

Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all Abrahamic religions. We are called so because we are all monotheistic (in the eyes of Islam, however, christianity is not truly monotheistic because of their belief in the divinity of jesus and god). The idea that we are monotheistic is significant, because if we all believe in one god, there can't possibly be more than one supreme force. Therefore, we worship the same lord, just in different ways.

As you know, the 10 C's were separate from the hundreds of other laws God gave the Jews.
Actually, I don't know that at all. Nowhere in my Bible does is say that none of the OT applies, except for the 10 Commandments which do apply.
As per my previous post on this, taking all the NT in context,
Again, my point has never been that you are doing something wrong. Only that you are will to "take all the NT in context" to get around one rule printed on the page, but aren't willing to accept that others can take the NT in context and decide that the words on the page about homosexuality don't mean what they seem to say.
-I looked at several translations & also a few Bible commentaries.
Were all these translation done from people who were members of churches that condemn homosexuality? Where any of them from people who are, say, experts on homosexuality? Could be some huge bias there, don't you think?
-Some parts of the Bible are easy to understand & some are more complicated.
Whose to say that the passages on homosexuality aren't in the "more complicated" category?
DW & I are headed to WDW in a couple days.
Have a great trip!
We have a lot to do to get ready to leave at 5am(!) Sunday.
Traveling on a Sunday? Hmmm, nah not even going to go there. As I said, have a great trip.
