He is appearing at a rally here!!! I stood in line for an hour and a half and we got tickets! WOOHOOO!!!!
Update:
Wow, what fun! The lady warming us up must have been concerned as she had us practice yelling "4 more years", and we would trail off after two times...
Then we got a little more excited for Jim Talent and Kit Bond- interesting shirt- a plaid number! There were Apache helicoptors and sharpshooters on the tops of buildings and the Football press box if you will, not that there is much press about Lee's Summit football!!
When the time came for the pledge, there was a boy who said, hey they do that at my school! It was cute!
Some country singer named Matt Will sang. We had no idea who he was, but he sang "Then the Crowd Goes Wild" and a couple of other songs. He was good.
The high school band let us know when the BIG BUS came and we all cheered really loudly! We got into our Chiefs game mode, and really welcomed the Prez. We were probably 50 feet from the podium.
DD seemed fairly impressed, and helped take pics as she was just about the tallest one there thanks to DH. DS could have cared less, like any two year old. He didn't cry at least! We kept telling them- there is the leader of the free world- and she would say I know mom, you told me before!!!
President Bush hit on the same topics as the convention, and got the most applause when talking about national security and marriage between a man and a woman. He got about ten feet from us and DH still gets mad becasue I wouldn't wake the kids up fast enough for him and I let them eat at 5:45 in the morning! We got lots of pics and I will try to get them up soon.
After the speech, we were walking back to our car and there were about 20 protestors, all young. We had to walk by them to get to our car, but of course my big mouth husband with his deep radio DJ kind of voice had to say "Yeah Bush, 4 more years!!!!" What could I do? well, I took a page from one of your signatures, sorry I don't remember who, and I yelled "Vote for Kerry, it's easier than working!!!" Whomever you are, you were represented in Lee's Summit Missouri today! I was going to walk on by, but I figured, we all have free speech, why not use it.
We just saw ourselves on FOX news!! It is like the outtakes from Toy Story Two where the green guy says, you can see my hand on the screen grabbing Buzz Light Year! We made DD watch it, and she said, oh yeah, we were there! Now I have to get her lunch and off to school! I called and said "We gave her our own civics lesson!".
