I really liked all three towns. I went to three open houses and saw four houses. The first was in Grafton. A neighborhood with very small, usable lots. Some had no privacy in the back yard. The interior of the house had a nice kitchen, a nice family room, a miniscule living room, and the "office" wasn't much bigger than one of my bathrooms! Note to sellers. When you are selling your house, don't turn your formal living room into a play room with no adult furniture. It makes the room look even smaller.
Two other houses I saw were adjacent to a golf course in Grafton. They were nice. It was a higher elevation so the views were wonderful. Again, no private back yard. Yards were small and in the smaller home, the bedrooms were all small.
Forth house I saw was a Pulte Home. I think it was in Upton or Grafton. New construction and a couple of resales in the area. The interior of the model was quite nice. There were lots of the same house. Basically 4 styles and 5 colors. Few trees. Definitely hit me as track housing. I think I need to expand my parameters to up to 20 years old if I want a house with character. The way things are shaping up, I am tempted to stay in Ct. and buy a condo in Fla.

I was wondering how you were making out with the house hunting, Dawn. Have you given up on the South Shore? I know you were asking about Norwell, Hingham, etc a week or two back. I happened to come across a bus schedule for the P&B busline and looked to see how long the ride was from Rockland and Marshfield to South Station (where your husband would then catch the red line). The Rockland stop is on the Norwell / Hingham / Rockland line next to the highway on ramp. It looks to be about a 40 minute ride. If you want to look at the schedule their website is www.p-b.com.

The communities you looked at yesterday aren't familiar to me. Sorry I'm no help on those. Keep us updated and good luck!

40 minutes sounds reasonable. We are open to any and all possibilities. I am generally looking at towns that would be a good fit. Weston, Wellesley and Dover would be a good fit, except we can't afford what we would be looking for. :rotfl2: Champaign taste, beer pocketbook! Are there HOV lanes for buses?

Have you looked at Harvard? It is on Route 2. All the lots have a minimum acreage requirement, so you would have a nice yard. I am not sure what, if anything, is there for new construction, but it is a pretty town/village, and a straight shot to Cambridge. He could also drive part way and then pick up the commuter rail in Concord or Littleton, disembarking at Porter Square.

I am not sure of how familiar you are with the highways, but from Rockland you would shoot up route 3 to "the split" at Braintree. This is where the highway splits between continuing on route 3 toward Boston or heading up 128. There is an HOV lane that starts at the split headed into Boston. :car:
