a t-shirt that said "When I grow up I wanna be a hooters girl!"
what do you think of it? would you buy your DD a shirt like that?

I would not buy my DD this shirt, no matter what her age. I'm all for humor, but I'd rather see humor that doesn't play into old, tired stereotypes that plays on physical attributes like this.

It's funny you mention that. I have a woman in my office that is SOOO proud that her 19 year old daughter is a waitress at Hooters. It is really strange to me. Couldn't she aim a little higher for her daughter?

It's right up there with the one I saw on a little boy. It said "All mommy wanted was a backrub!"

DH said he'd love for me to get a part time job at Hooters. He said he'd get to brag to all his friends that he's married to a Hooters girl! ;)

I see nothing wrong with the restaurant or women who work there. But even I wouldn't buy a shirt like that for a girl/teenager. While I see nothing wrong with the job, I don't think it should be a life goal, either!

Yes, but then I'm sick, twisted and the poster child for bad parenting. :teeth:

Seriously was the t-shirt itself in some way inappropriate or just what it said?

Maybe her mom works at Hooters and bought it for her.

Hooters girls are after all waitresses and work very hard. I couldn't waitress if my life depended on it. It's hard work. And think of all the rude customers you get. I'd dump the chicken wings right in their lap!! ;)

And as far as the outfits they wear, cause I'm sure someone will mention that, so what? I wish I could look like that in those clothes.

I just don't see the big deal. I'm sure it was from someone that worked there.

Over my dead body :earseek:
First, my DH would never, ever let DD leave the house with that on. Now, if I bought it for her it would be over my dead body because my DH would shoot me :rotfl:

My DH and I were just talking the other day about one of my friends...we think she may go to the city each month to "dance" at an adult establishment...to me, that is her choice and if she does, oh well....doesn't affect me, I love her even if it is something I wouldn't do. But I can't see young girls or children dressing like they are dancers...it is just dangerous and inappropriate IMHO.

100% agree with ya....I've been there, many time, and actually if their was one here, I'd work for em. I have the physique so I can, and can waitress, however, the closest one is about 1.5 hours away, so thats going to happen soon. However, it would certainly help me in my financial situation right now!

My DD's have shirts that say "daddy's future biker" on em, both are Harley shirts....there is a sterotype about those "types" too...oh well.

DD9 has a shirt that says "silly boys, trucks are for girls"....she wants my MUDNURI when she gets her license, and everytime I say im going to sell it she freaks...how many other girls are like that.. LOL

we're a twisted family

For some strange reason, it sounds cute on a baby girl, maybe even a toddler. But the older the age, the more inappropriate it gets. I can think of a lot of shirts that would fit that category. Innocent and amusing on a baby girl, downright poor taste or even disgusting on a 12 yr old.

Girls at hooters are just trying to work and make some money. They are doing it honestly, and I see nothing wrong with working there. If a child wants to work there, now I'm not saying its the best paying job, or it should be a life goal, but I see nothing wrong with it. Maybe her mom works there.

I agree with you on the dressing like dancers part, which is why I asked if there was something inappropriate about the t-shirt itself. But if it's just a regular old tee with that on it I wouldn't mind.

I almost bought one for my DD from the Hooters in Burbank CA where we used to live before we moved, as a souvenior but I didn't because of the price. Nothin else.

Actually, even if it's someone's life goal to work there I have no problem with that. A job is a job, and we all have different goals in life.
