O.K. I told you guys about this a few days ago. It turns out I couldn't do a direct, hotel only reservation, but this is what I did.
www.funjet.com
click on destination guides
popular vacation packages
put in your hometown and orlando
put in your dates
under package type click on "hotel only"
choose a package in the long list displayed with the amount of days you want- keep looking--click on go
under options - Walt Disney World passes you CAN take them off

Only problems- it charges your credit card today ( I'll do it to save the money)
I bought the pre-travel penalty waiver for $98 and I can cancel with full refund at any time- and I still saved $573
My total for 1/28/04-2/3/04 (6 nights) at AKL savannah for 2 adults and 2 children including tax was $1266 which =$211/night
rack rate +tax is $1839.84
I didn't want a package because it takes us 8 hours to drive and we'd waste 2 days of park passes.
Try it and see- Dr. Candi:smooth:

Way to go, DrCandi! I went to that website and played with it, too. I wondered if it would force add the UPH's after you made the hotel selection. It is essentially the same prices as AP rates, give or take a buck or two. Too bad I don't have the entire amount now, or I would book in a heartbeat.

I'm glad to see that someone has been able to take advantage if this deal.

Won't it be fun for you to spend that extra money at the restaurants and gift shops?! Way to go!

I just went over and tried this, and when the options came up, I thought my Polynesian prices went from the 189.00 (ap rate) to 162.00 BUT then I read the FINE print. It says above it that all prices are based per person / on double occupancy.= price 364.00 / nite not 162.00. (I got the price by dividing it out, by the days BUT then you have to Multiply it by 2 people).

Now its possible, I got something different than you guys, but anyone be sure to read ALL the info.

Thanks for posting that link, DrCandi. I played around with my dates in January, and found that I couldn't check in on my exact day at any Disney hotel (a Thursday) but there was lots of availability for checking in the following day, on Friday. (???) To me the prices seemed a bit better than the AAA rates I currently have for January.

My CRO price is $850 for 3 nights Garden View with a AAA discount.

My Funjet price is $886 for 3 nights Lagoon View (no garden view available) including the $98 mandatory cancellation insurance, although I can't get the exact dates I need.

Since I can't quite compare apples to apples I guess $36 is fairly cheap for a 3 night upgrade to lagoon view. However, I'm still hoping for those AP rates in January!!

Thanks again.

At first the price per person includes the dream maker package.
Keep going and you can take off the price of the tickets. You can also choose not to get travel insurance.
The price per night would be $212, so your AP rate was better.
It's still a good discount for those of us without AP's.
