I just returned from a quick trip to WDW. As a DL veteran and AP holder let me just say that I so missed DL's weather and "smallness" ! :rotfl:
Anyway, I was able to ride the new Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios. Very cool ride. I hope it is the same at DCA! The lines were very long and we ended up doing single rider. They do have fast passes there (although I heard DCA's won't).
I can't wait to ride DCA's later this year to compare! :cool1:

I can't wait to ride TSM on my next trip...hopefully the new-ride-buzz will have worn off by then. :thumbsup2

When did WDW's version open?

I am not sure of the exact date but I think it was right before Memorial Day Weekend. It is still very new. The ride stopped a couple of times while I was on it. But its unlike Buzzlightyear where you can keep scoring more points. On TSM the screens lets you keep playing the "game" you are at but the point values go to zero. Don't know why they stopped - but it wasn't for wheelchair loading because they have a separate loading dock for that.

In 2 months? I don't think so. I'm going around the same time and I'm expecting long long lines. I'm soooo excited! :cool1:

Long, long lines for a long, long time. Any word on if there will be a single rider program for TSM?

Does anyone know if the 17th will have a MM for DCA?

Yeah, I'd like to know that too. Will be there as a solo in a few weeks, and would love to ride, but refuse to stand in line for anything longer than 20 minutes. Fastpass has me spoiled!

The one at WDW does but I don't know about DCA. :confused3
We used the single rider because the Fast Pass Return was already very late in the day and we were not staying at that park that late. The standby wait was 100 minutes. When we (there were 3 of us) got in the single rider line there was a CM telling us that if we were using that line to shorten our wait time that it might not necessarily do so. We had a hard time believing the single rider wait would be 100 minutes and it wasn't - but it was still about 30 minutes. Apparently many other guests were doing the same thing as us! :) And I think the CM was trying to get guests from standing in line together and then just riding separately. ;)

When did WDW's version open?
It officially opened on May 31. We visited DHS on May 27 and May 31. TSM was open for soft openings on May 27. We rode it about 8-10 times over the two days and it is very cool. We used single rider a lot, had several FPs and did standby once on May 31 when we were there for rope drop and one of the first ones to the ride.

Hopefully TSM at DCA will have single rider. However, that will bring the number of single rider attractions at DCA to something line 5 or 6.

The fact is that the way that TSM loads people it is a natural for single rider. Each ride vehicle supports four people - with two on one side of the vehicle and then two behind you. There is a backrest that is so high you cannot see the people behind you. The vehicles spin a lot to position you for shooting targets. Further, the four-person ride vehicle is connected to a second four-person vehicle which move around in tandem and spin together. So one tip if you have more than two people in your group and you want to see them is not to get on the same vehicle (because you cannot see them when they are behind you) but to split your group over the two tandem vehicles because you will see them during the spinning. It will all be obvious to you once you ride it for the first time.

BTW, my top score was 153,600. See if you can beat it! :)

Wow! Great high score! I think mine was around 80,000 but I only rode one time! ;)
We were at DHS on June 1st and I didn't realize it had just opened the day before. I wanted to ride more than once but we had to get to MK.

I really do hope TSM in DCA has single rider. Like HydroGuy said, it really is set up for it. If it doesn't there will be many unused seats going through and I really get annoyed seeing that! :worried:

Really? I only knew of Soarin' & Grizzly River Run. What other DCA attractions have a single rider line?

Scream, Moholland madness and i think tower of terror.

Judging by how the line is runned, i believe there is a single rider line. That also makes me wonder if they do have the ride prep for Fastpasses. Maybe in the future? who knows.

Of course you get better with practice and learn how to hit some of those 5000 point targets. ::yes::

I think my first time on I scored 50,000-60,000. One key is to shoot like crazy and focus only on targets 500 points and above. Oh, and do not slow down on the bonus round at the very end.

Here is a picture of my DS12 in a TSM ride vehicle. I was in the tandem vehicle opposite him and when we spun I could see him face on at times and sometimes by looking sideways. Also note the high backrest. There are two people behind him on his vehicle that you cannot see here.

It's Soarin, GRR, California Screamin, Mulholland Madness, and Maliboomer. Not ToT.

Sounds Cool! We won a sneak peak on June 11th at DCA. Guess I'll have to take DD8 out of school that day-which is no problem since all they are doing this whole month is learn their parts for a play. :goodvibes

Thanks, cccdisney and Hydroguy for the updates on WDW's version! The picture is great as are all the tips!! Wahoooo! I'm really excited. Too bad I can't use the AP preview I won- but can hope for soft openings at the end of next week, maybe. :hyper:
