I'm staying on International Drive on my next trip and i'm a little concerned about transport to the parks. We've decided not to hire a car because the insurance for under 25 drivers is sky high! Although our hotel offers bookable shuttles for $30 to Disney i'm expecting these to require waiting around at the start and end of days, standing up, long transport time whilst it stops at loads of different hotels etc. I want to be at the parks for rope drop to make the most of it and i doubt these shuttles will get us there early enough so here's my plan...

Mears estimates costs from I-Drive to Disney at around $30/$35 each way which is pretty much the same as two people return on the hotels shuttle but how accurate is this estimate?
My other plan to cut costs down was to catch the i-Trolley to Seaworld and then get a Mears from Seaworld to Disney which costs around $20 cutting over $10 off each way!! Do you think this is possible though?

I'm sure some of you have stayed on I-Drive and had to get public transport to Disney, any hints/tips/ideas?

I drive is a good distance from WDW. For what you're going to spend on transportation, you could probably book a room in a value resort. Or, look at the hotels in the DTD area. They have better bus service and are much closer. Some even participate in extra magic hours.

If you still want to stay on idrive, and can get to Sea World. There is a Lynx bus that goes to WDW (ticket & transportation center.)
