Well, after 6 weeks of very civil crowds I finally encountered a bad apple.
Lauri's working today so her mother comes with me to the Disney Store this morning for today's pin release. We arrived at the mall at 9 and waited patiently for the store to open at 10. Slowly, other people start to arrive after 9:30 .... one older lady we've seen there the past few weeks, a friend of Lauri's (a cop who patrols her mall) is with his pin-trading wife, a few other people, and two couples I've never seen before.
The gate opens and everyone heads for the pin rack. Very calm and civil crowd. No pushing, no grabbing, no fighting. I get the pins for myself and for Lauri's mom, and get out of the way so I can divide the pins into two piles. I find I have one Dumbo poster more than I need, so I take it back up to the rack. While I'm looking at the rack to see what's left and what isn't (Pocahontas was wiped out), the two ladies who were last in line had been talking about something, I don't know what, but one of them commented "this is bull****." The other said something in agreement, then looked up at me, and said "Next week why don't you bring all your neighbors again."
I didn't want to get into anything in the middle of the Disney Store, but now I'm really regretting telling this lady off. We got no more pins today with Lauri's mom there in her place that we would have had Lauri been there instead. We were also picking up pins for friends of ours who can't make it to the Disney Store this morning as we've done in past weeks.
She may even be reading this, so if she is, I'm sure she knows who she is and I have one last thing to say --- get to know the people you'll be in line with for the next 6 weeks before you start criticizing them.
