Especially in the middle of the night when I start thinking 'Gee my 50mm f1.2 AIS really needs a friend..." Anyway- even though my last 'film experiment' never really took off I thought I would give it one more shot- this time a little more 'retro' :hippie:

Waiting now on delivery of my new black Nikon FE. Now I just need to find someplace that still develops B&W Film and Color Slides and does scanning. ;)

Although they are not "true" B&W film the Kodak Professional BW400CN and the Ilford XP-2 Super Sharp, Fine Grain, Black and White Professional Film ISO 400 are both able to be developed in at almost all film developers since they use the C-41 process. Most places will also offer scanning as well but many dont offer hi dpi quality scans that you can get if you buy a scanner and do it yourself.

Jeff you have waaaaaaaay tooooooo much time on your hands!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with your new purchase. :thumbsup2

I have the silver FE. You will enjoy it. I would have let you use it to see if it filled your needs!

I bet Kelly starts giving you sleeping pills! LOL

Jeff Jeff Jeff Jeff JeffJeff Jeff........ NICE!!!

Lately I've found Craigslist to be much more dangerous than eBay (and you can often get better deals.) Check out this beautiful almost-new-in-the-box Nikon FA that was just posted two days ago for $150. My Nikkor 105mm F2.5 and 20cm F4 (the latter now on its way to Spain) were Craigslist finds. In a way, I'm glad that I only recently started looking at it. Now, I have the photography section as an RSS feed in Thunderbird and it automatically forwards messages with certain keywords to my main inbox.

Speaking of my Nikkors - hey, now next time I'm down there, we could share pre-AI lenses. :teeth: :lmao:

Oh, as for developing - I admit that my last few ones have been done on the cheap at BJ's Wholesale Club (about $3 a roll), I have a roll fresh out of my Spotmatic that I am debating taking there or trying Smugmug for. For scanning, it's hard to beat a Nikon Coolscan if you think you'll be doing any real shooting and/or have lots of old images to scan. If not, then I would assume that Smugmug can scan the film after developing and provide a CD, but I haven't checked that.

Whoooooooops! I meant Snapfish, not SmugMug. :rolleyes1

Snapfish charges $3 for developing (first roll free), $2 shipping, and they scan and put the photos online for you for free. However, I don't know what kind of quality they post them in (I suspect it's not particularly impressive.) I have a mailer sitting downstairs, I will probably send in my roll and I will know soon enough!

Mpix does developing, too, at 19c a print. They will also scan and can provide 1228x1818 jpgs but the cost is a bit pricey. For comparison, the images I get off my Coolscan are about 5650x3750.

Lookey what the mailman brought me today.

LOL- It's my kids I have to explain that to- Every shot I take they want to see the back of the camera. :confused3

Carried it all day yesterday- dumb rain. Finally got to snap a few a dinner- very dark restaurant- all wide open. Kodak BW400CN processed and scanned at the corner store but a start anyway. Camera seems to be working great!

Very nice Jeff... Who would have thought to shoot a shot of a blood sugar machine... Your's? Looks a little high, but not too bad :thumbsup2

Jeff, I hope Camryn's new "pod" works great for her! She deserves it!
