I rarely ask for this, but could my friend have your thoughts?

My co-worker/friend is going into the Air Force. He just left for basic training last week, and I'm really worried.

He's not the usual military 'type'. To be honest he's kind of a dork, lol. He tall and gangly and has a weird laugh. I'm worried if he's cut out for it, but mostly I'm just worried about the usual things. This is a tough time to decide to go into the military, he's brave for it.

He also JUST got married last month (they're both very young) and so I'm also worried about his wife, she is also a co-worker.

To keep everyone kind of light hearted about it, he told us to just focus on what he'll be like when he comes back. I just cannot imagine him with the haircut, and the stance, and everything..different. It's a funny picture in my head.

Sorry about rumbling on, it just kind of hit me how much I am actually worried about him. So could you guys maybe put him in your thoughts? He doesn't really 'have' anyone besides his new wife, I can't imagine how much he must be missing her.

Of course my thoughts are with him and his family.

I hope you don't mind me butting into your thread, if so I'll be happy to move this elsewhere. :) I just saw a girl I haven't seen since last year. She was perfectly healthy when I saw her, well on fathers day last year she hit a semi and I guess she can't move from the waist down. She just turned 18 and they're trying to raise money to help her walk again. Just asking for good thoughts for her. I'm sure she'd appreciate it. (:

I sirtenly will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

 Prayers for your friend. He is very brave to go into the military.

Give him our thanks for serving our country.

Tell him one of your friends says thank you for his service, regardless of how far he makes it.

You're description of your friend is just like someone I know who just joined the military too! (I think it's the airforce too!) I'll keep him in my thoughts.

How'd he do?

I know I should have faith in him, but I'm just so worried he won't...'fit in'. Lol! I know, what a girly thing to do. A guys going into the military and I'm worried about him making friends.

I don't know, I only see how he's doing through facebook updates ):
I should have faith in him too, and I really do because he really wants to do this and it seems as if he has a lot of motivation. I do know he leaves the 12th though. And he...his name is Mason...is really dorky as well. I knew him a little bit through the dram guild. He's the typical star trek-ish nerd type. I never imagined he'd join the military. I'm worried about him fitting in too. But I bet there's nothing to worry about there, there are probably other new people they can talk to (:

I love that name, Mason.

Anyway, yeah. I'm hoping there are some other dorks for him to hang out with, xD.

Maybe Mason and your co-worker will conveniently find each other and hang out. Then we'd both feel a little bit better (:
