We're going to have 2 days in October to visit Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. I'm really excited. From what I've read on this board, it sounds like the parks are a lot of fun. Will be traveling with DH (35), me, DS (15) and DD (6). The only theme park we've ever done as a family is Disneyland but I think we are all thrill riders. I'm really excited!!!

Did you order from the Universal website?

Excellent! I'm sure you'll have a blast! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask. :thumbsup2

No, I ordered them through a program offered at work: Tickets at Work.

I just checked my company and we have discounted tickets too. I would have never thought to check if it wasn't for your post. :thumbsup2
Do you know if they send a real ticket, or is it something you print?

It sounds like they're sending us real tickets because they gave me a UPS shipment confirmation.

Congrats on finding discounted tickets from work!!!

I have questions but I don't even know where to begin. I've only been to Universal Hollywood, I took DS when he was 4 there and it was such a disappointment. So, I've been disinterested in going to Universal Orlando until my parents talked about how much they loved their trip. It sounds like my daughter is tall enough to ride a majority of the rides. I'm just worried about the scary ones. I don't like to be scared and she doesn't either.

I don't find any of the rides scary. You may be different, most of the rides are loud and dark but if you just consider it a ride it isn't scary. Your daughter may be different. There are no pop out "boo" type moments that I can think of on any of the rides.

I don't like blood/guts and I don't like "boo" moments. Anything other than that, I can handle.

I think you will have a great time! I had my girls there when they were 12 and they LOVED it...especially the FOTL...

A suggestion that may help, other than these fantastic peeps on this board..is Kelly Monaghan's book on Universal..I found it very informative..

If you don;t like jumpy gory stuff avoid the HHN!!!

Have fun planning and enjoy your trip!!!!

I agree that Kelly Monaghan's book is invaluable.

There are a few surprises in the Mummy but the ride is such a hoot that I can't see those being all that bothersome. The Gruesome Gory etc. Show (I never can remember the full name of that thing) sounds awful but it's a very humorous and fun show about gruesome effects. I think that both of these shouldn't be missed.

In IOA, a few things in the Jurassic Park ride can be a little startling but it's still a blast of a water ride.

First of all, CONGRATS on your trip! You´ll have a blast. I am going on September 24th! Last year I went on Septemebr 25th

You'll love it. Not too many scary rides though. All quite fun, lots of thrills on the roller coaster but that´s about it!
Enjoy your trip! :cool1:

You won't see anything like that during the day at Universal. That's reserved for HHN which is only in the evenings and you have to have a separate ticket for it.
