I never thought I'd see this in Maine!

Yesterday and today the water in our pool hit 86 degrees! WOW!! Usually it's a slow process of stepping into the water and getting used to it, but not the past few days. It's been like swimming in a heated pool! :yay: :yay:

Of course, with this heat, it would be okay if the water was a bit cooler. I NEVER thought I'd say that!

Finally a bit cooler here in Maine today. I hate to say that, but it really has been brutal lately. It would be different if everyplace (including home- especially home!) had central A/C but here in Maine that's just not terribly practical!

You have a pool in Maine? :rotfl2:
I can remember vacationing (camping) on the southern shore and the ocean temp never got above low 50s in August. And even as a kid there was one time it snowed. I just never equated Maine and swimming pools.

Glad you are enjoying the pool though. :thumbsup2

Yeah- even way up here in the frozen tundra of Maine we have pools. Snow in August? When was that? I've seen a flurry in May, but August is hot and humid in Maine. BTW it's been in the high 80's and 90's here in Maine this week.

The snow was in the 70s (I'm old) during the night. Okay, maybe it wasn't snow, more like flurries. And they were flurries in a Jersey girl's mind. I visited a roommate in Auburn in January one time and the "flurries" were 2 to 4 inches. I told them that was going to store to get milk, bread and eggs weather in NJ. :rotfl: They laughed.

Please don't think I'm making fun of ME. We spent many summers up there and I truly do miss our wonderful vacations up there. I have nothing but fond memories of a beautiful state and nice people. But I do remember it being cold at night. Now where did that frozen guy smilie go? :confused3 :sunny:

I have to say, I've been delighted to go to work this week--thank goodness we have central A/C there!

So glad it is finally cooling off.

Honestly, I think the heat is worse up here than it is in Florida. We were there mid-June--similar temps to what we had this week in Maine--and it didn't seem nearly as bad. Maybe it is the humidity, or maybe it is the central A/C that is everywhere in FL, so as long as you are indoors, you can cool down?

Well, get those temps down! We'll be there Aug 16 and I'd like it around 75 please. :)

Hey, are you laughing at my pool!?!?! Honestly, we really do get hot temps in the summer, but they usually don't stick around for too long. I figure even if we get a couple of months use out of the pool it's still worth it.

And, I agree about the frigid ocean temps. I DO NOT go swimming in the ocean around here, although plenty of people do. I much prefer the warmer water down south.

Yesterday on the radio they were telling everyone to just pretend we're in Florida with all this heat and humidity. I guess we had to pretend we had air conditioning, too! :rotfl:

I'll see what I can do! Today is gorgeous, 70's and sunny and no humidity. :sunny:

Not laughing at your pool! I think pools are great! :thumbsup2 I just remember begging for a pool as a kid and my parents told us that we wouldn't get enough use out of it in NJ. :confused3 Of course now that they moved to CO they bought a house with a beautiful in-ground one. :rotfl:

My MA pool hit an all time high of 90° yesterday. I'm grateful to have the pool, but 10° cooler would be much more refreshing!

I, for one, am glad to hear this. We're heading up to Maine this Saturday, and we stay on a lake - hopefully this means the lake water will be warm!
