I need vacation planning help

My family and I are Vacation Club members. We are in the early stages of planning a trip for next Feb/Mar. We would like to arrive on a Friday evening and stay nine nights until the following Sunday. In order to save a few points, we are considering staying at one of the POP resorts (paying cash)the night we arrive (Fri) and the next night (Sat), before we transfer over to our home resort (using points) for the remainder of our trip.
If we do this, can we still utilize Magical Express? Can I call Member Services to book the entire trip or just the DVC portion of the trip? If Member Services cannot book the entire trip, how do we go about booking the POP portion of the trip and still be able to take advantage of Magical Express?
I hope this all makes sense, I'm quite sure this has been done before. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

You definitely can use Magical Express even if you are staying at the Pop Resort before our DVC stay. You will have to call CRO and make your Friday and Saturday reservations and they can book our arrival on Magical Express. Then you will have to book our DVC stay through MS and the can make your Magical Express departure reservations. Because you are staying at a non-DVC resort first, you must book your Magical Express as two one-way reservations. One through CRO and one through MS. We are doing the same thing this May. We are staying at Pop for the first night of our stay and then moving over to SSR for the remainder. I have already spoken to CRO for my arrival on ME and then I have arranged through MS for our departure on ME. Also, Disney will move your luggage to your DVC resort when you leave PC. Just call Bell Services and let them know you are moving to another resort and the will do that for you. Disney makes it very easy to change during our stay. Good Luck and Enjoy!!!!!

You will be able to use Magical Express for your entire stay because you are staying on property. Bell Service will move your luggage from Pop to your DVC resort for you on Sunday.

We are saving on points for our July trip and I was able to book a cash reservation at the resort we are staying at on our points. So, esssentially, we are paying cash for Saturday night and then points for the rest of the trip. Essentailly, we do not have to worry about switching resorts and changing rooms. This may work for you if you check with Member Services. Sometimes there are discounts offered on the cash room rates for DVC members at DVC resorts.

My DCuz came with us in September and she spent Saturday night at POP and booked her own room through the central reservations and she booked the ME to Pop with them. She was going back to the airport with us from AKV, and I booked her ME for the return to the airport through the Members site.

Disney will transfer your luggage from Pop to your DVC villa, but we had a car and we did the luggage transfer for her.
