Please bear with me, I just need to vent this out... Background...My boss, the president of our company and I have worked side by side for 10 years (we are like family), in all that time he has taken maybe 1 vacation I can remember. He is older (56) and has a DS(5) and DD(3). He and his wife have to go to Fl for a wedding and after hearing about my several WDW trips suggested they should take the kids while they are there. Great idea! I thought, I would be glad to pull all the stuff together for them (so much easier for a disney "veteran"). Everyone is happy. Now, my boss is, how shall I say, high maintenance. He is a millionaire, has expensive taste, and at times hard to please, so I pull the MK resorts because of the small kids and a mod POFQ (because is my fav mod) for comparison, priced it all out with tickets etc and dining. (note here I am the finance officer, Im doing all this cause I WANT to!!!) He looks at it all and says.."these are all expensive, I want that deal they show on tv for $1500 a week" ..ok, you'll drop $4,000 for a car part for your blue Jaguar (or was it the red, no green, silver?) but not for a vacation... I should put him in the value shouldn't I... Us normal people we would be happy just cause we are at WDW, and would manage just fine in the values...he wouldn't survive the night! :rotfl2: Regroup, so I change strategy and go to his wife, go over everything she is more middle of the road chooses WL. Good, we are getting somewhere. Fast forward to yesterday, he comes in and says, "I don't think we will be going on that WDW vacation afterall, its expensive. We took the kids out to a restaurant and they made animal noises (like who's hasn't??) I don't think I can take a week of vacation there" I just feel bad, these poor kids have a father who's loaded, yet have not once ever been on a family vacation EVER. :headache: Priorities people!!!!! Thanks rant over!

How much time does he spend with his kids? Sounds like the type who can't handle being in the room with them for more than a few minutes before they get on his nerves because they even think about looking at him.

Or he could be like my DB who thinks all children should be perfect. Never cry, never whine, listen the first time (and I'm talking about his 2yo) and be perfect.

I used to envy rich kids when I was little, but now I realize these kids barely saw their parents. I'm not saying every rich family is like that, though.

Some people don't know what's important in life.

Oh how sad! I hope that the wife might still want to go and change her husband's mind.

You are right his wife does most of the "kid" stuff other then bringing them to school etc, he works alot, but doesn't have to. Since he is older and the children are adopted he more or less lets them do whatever they like. But they are cute kids, rambunctious at times but what kids aren't! He was worried about a week in a "hotel" room (yet only wanted to spend the $ for the value?!?!) I tried to explain that the kids will be so worn out the are going to go right to sleep. The man needs to learn how to relax a little and have fun with his family...His wife always says hes like the man in the "Cat's in the cradle" song :sad2:

Not everyone is a good parent. You are not going to change that with a Disney vacation. Personally, for someone that has never taken his kids on a vacation, Disney wouldn't be my first choice of places to go. If he isn't tolerant of his own children, how in the heck is he going to relax around a million other kids that may or may not be well behaved. Some people can't relax knowing how much money they are spending either, my DH is that way. He has no idea how much our Disney trip cost and I am not telling him either. He had more fun not knowing that every meal cost him over $150 (well not quite that because we had the meal plan).

Short trips might be a better idea. I would suggest a couple days at the beach where the kids can run around and not bother him. Find a hotel that has 2 bedroom suites and go that route instead.
