I just wrote a short screenplay. I have no idea why. This idea just kept floating around in my head. I got the idea from a thread here on the CB some months ago. Of course, I modified the original situation.

Now, what to do with it. There are tons of independent film makers in this area who are always looking for short scripts for their school projects. Maybe I'll contact one of them. What's the worst that can happen? I can handle rejection.

If it gets accepted, I would give credit to the DISer who gave me the idea, except I can't remember who it was.

What is it about?

Very briefly, it is about a teenage girl who is home alone for an evening. There is a power failure. As the evening goes on, she gets more and more nervous. She calls her mom, who tells her she can't get home because she's working. She calls her boyfriend and then a girlfriend. Neither are able to come over. She hears the neighbors dog barking. This dog never barks. She gets more and more freaked by the situation. She tries calling the various neighbors and gets no answer. She finally decides to go check on the dog. As she starts over, she hears the dog cry as though it has been hurt. She gets scared and runs back inside. After about two hours with no lights, a car pulls in the driveway. It is her dad. She runs out to him. As she starts to tell him that she thinks something is horribly wrong, the lights come back on for the entire street. They laugh and start to enter the house. At that time, a truck drives slowly down the street leaving the neighborhood. The can see the vague outline of the guy in the truck. He's wearing a hardhat. He waves at them. They wave back and enter the house. As the truck moves on down the street, the camera zooms in on the back of the truck. There is a big tool box in the back. The lid is only partially closed. In the tool box is an ax. The ax is covered in blood.

Bizarre? I kind of think of it as a twilight zone kind of thing. You never see anything really happening. You have to let your imagination fill things in.

One thing I've found since my DD started auditioning for independent films. They are almost always some type of horror film. I don't know why. They almost always focus on teenagers.

It is probably because they are easier to do because they don't have to find great actors and, teenage actors are always easy to find.

Interesting-The majority of people that go to movies are teenagers and I know my dd-15 loves to go to scary movies, me on the other hand, I hate scary movies. So maybe this is why film makers love these kinds of scenarios. Hey I saw you posted your picture the other day. Nice to see you!

I once read that studios love to do the scary teen based movies because the are cheap to produce and they make a bundle on them. I, personally, hate scary movies.
