We became members in April 08, with a use year of September 07, so we received those retro points. So, this September we will receive another 200 points, which makes a total of 400 points that we will have. We booked a GV for May 0f 09, for 395 points,hoping we could change to OKW come 7 months out because it is alot less points.

I then called to book a President's week trip that was 139 points. I used the 5 we had left and borrowed 134 points from the next use year.

Ok, so here is where the confusion sets in. We may have to cancel the Feb. trip because of work schedules with DH. I totally understand that those points can not go back into the use year they came from but must be used in the use year they were borrowed into.

What I need to know is, if we cancel the Feb. trip, and are able to change resorts in May, what happends to the points? Would the borrowed points still need to be used, or could we switch them over to the May trip when we call to change resorts? Would the extra points from changing resorts be able to be banked, since they weren't the borrowed points?

I'm not sure if all that makes sense. I was talking to MS and I thought she said that any points that were being refunded from changing to a less points resort would be able to be banked. But now with the possible cancellation I'm not sure how that all works.

Let me see if I can help.

You had 200 Sep 07 UY points. They could have been used to stay between Sept 07 and Aug 08 or banked. It looks like you banked them.

You had 200 Sep 08 UY points. They could have been used to stay between Sept 08 and Aug 09 or banked. You also had 200 07 points banked into 08.

You booked a GV for May 09 for 395 points. MS probably used all 200 banked points and 195 current points.

You booked a Feb 09 reservation for 134 points. You used 5 current 08 points and borrowed 129 09UY points.

If you cancel the Feb 09 trip, the 5 08UY points remain current points. They can be banked into 09 subject to your banking deadline of April 09. The 129 borrowed points must be used by Aug 31, 09. MS should allow you to swap these points for your 08 current UY points used for your May reservation. With that sawp, you would have 129 more current 08 UY points that can also be banked by April 09.

If you cancel Feb and swap points for May, you would have 200 banked and 129 borrowed points in the May reservation, leaving 66 current 08 UY points. If you change to OKW and get 66 or less points back, make sure when you speak with MS that they are current 08 UY points and then you can bank then up to Apr 09. With banking, you can use them until Aug 2010. If you get more than 66 points back, you will have extra points that have already been banked or borrowed, so you must use them by Aug 09.

Yes, you can ask them to use banked and borrowed first. Then you will have to bank your current year points. When you change your reservation at seven months, you will cancel the first reservation and make a new one a the other resort.

But here is where the problem may arise. OKW GV may not be available at seven months. They are limited in number and may be booked up during the 11 month period. Because the OKW GV require much fewer points than all the other GV, they are very popular at seven months.

Plus with the new booking rules, someone who calls the day before you could book the reservation for seven days if it is still available, leaving you with nothing to reserve.

Thank you both very much. I called MS just now and worked everything out with them. I cancelled the Feb. trip, and was able to use all the banked and borrowed points first for the May trip.
