My teenage son somehow managed to knock the internet off his Mac Mini computer tonight. He uses Internet Explorer but he's not able to launch it.

Does anyone know what he might have messed up? And -- how he can fix it?

My DD needs to use that computer to upload the new website before she heads back to college tomorrow.

Thanks!

Duh, Jason - he only INVENTED the internet, not the computer....

Thanks for all the help, dude. I don't know what I'd do without you.......

I know, I know. ::yes::

I have always told EVERYONE that Jason is the one mainstay in my life, my rock, my everything. :goodvibes

I could help you but there was that whole little "thinking I was a woman" thing about a week ago..................

Do you seriously need help with internet explorer? If so, it is part of your operating system and really difficult if not impossible to remove. Did he actually remove it or is it a problem that the shortcut is just missing? If not, sorry for missing the joke.

dash,
He seriously can't use Internet Explorer again..... And he swears he didn't make it disappear! He can use Safari (but hates it).

Loubon -- yes, but I was serious about thinking you were a woman, remember? I told you that I have led a very, very, very sheltered life. Didn't you get the "Best of the Manly Man" gift set that I had express mailed to your house?? Along with subscriptions to Outdoor Life, Mustang Muscle Mania, and GQ?? Forgive me.... oh great and powerful Loubon..... :worship:

I really don't know anything about Mac's, but my computer illiterate husband has messed up Internet Explorer on his computer, and I just went in to the directory where the IE files are held and found the setup.exe file and ran it to reinstall.

What strange, new language is that which you speak of??? :rotfl2: ;)

(I guess what I'm saying is that I can join your DH in the computer illiterate section! )

I'm waiting for my DD to get home from her BF's and see if she can fix it. My DS got a headache and finally gave up and went to bed. :guilty:

Thanks! He tried to do a download from Safari but it didn't work. He says the original Internet Explorer is not in his Applications folder.

what version of osx do you have? if you have spotlight (that little blue eyeglass icon in the top right hand corner) click on it and do a search for internet explorer.

if not, try downloading firefox from apples website.

iggbees,
I'll have to go out and fire up his computer and see what version it is, but I'm thinking it is OS X. We bought the computer in April.

:rotfl: I am speaking PC tech support language, sorry.

I don't know Mac lingo, so this is hard for me. If this was my computer, I would find the folder that held the internet explorer files and find the file that is called setup.exe. I would double click it to reinstall. Does that make the least bit of sense to a Mac user?

Truthfully??? No, it doesn't!! :rotfl2:

But then again.... remember that I'm in the idiot corner with your DH!! :rotfl:

I gave up on it - DD will have a nice surprise when she gets up in the morning to do the website!

If you have your original disks that came with the computer, you may be able to install it from there. Just be REALLY CAREFUL in what you allow to be put on your machine. Sorry I wasn't convinced of your sincerety based upon the responses you were getting. Good luck!
