I Need Song suggestions - Please :)

Well it's the song that came to mind for me....but DS is being difficult... LOL. He asked me what song would I NOT cry to. I said it was impossible for me not to cry at my first born's wedding!! QUOTE]

Shoot! i cried on this thread. !

Our DD's new husband danced with his Mother to "I Hope You Dance" by LeAnn Womack.

It's a country song, so not sure that would fit in with the theme of the wedding.

that is what my hubby danced with his mom at our wedding

Is this common now for there to be a groom and mother dance? I have only seen it once and I have been to lots of weddings.

I've never been to a wedding where the groom didn't dance with his mom :confused3.

Heck at my wedding I danced with said son (and his brother), since they gave me away!!

Heck, I have cried listening to all these songs and then some!!

OK, DS asked for my top 3. Well I emailed him four songs...

1) Blessed by Elton John
2) Simple Man by Lynryd Skynryd
3) I hope you dance by Lee Ann Womack
4) In My Life by The Beatles

I think I kinda surprised him...he called and was like...wow mom, Lynryd Skynryd?? I think he narrowed it down between that and The Beatles.

Simple Man won!! (Thank you to those that suggested it).

I still think I am going to have the DJ play the Hokey Pokey at some point...after he has had lots of booze!! :lmao:

Sounds like you picked one out but my DH danced with his mom to "A Song For My Son". It was a real tear jerker though.

I don't know where
The time has gone
Since those little boy days
Doesn't seem that long
Yet here you are
It's your wedding day
And there's one thing darling
I'd like to say...

(chorus)

Be kind, be sweet
Be a gentle man
Care and share
And always be fair
And remember though you now
Have taken a wife
You will always be my son
My Loving son

You filled my life
With so much joy
As I watched you grow
From that little boy
Now I'll try not to cry
As you walk away
And just once more darling
I'd like to say...

(chorus)

Be kind, be sweet
Be a gentle man
Care and share
And always be fair
And remember though you now
Have taken a wife
You will always be my son
My Loving son

A Song For My Son
On His Wedding Day

:sad1: Just reading this is making me cry. I went to a wedding where the bride was dancing with her father and in the middle of the slow song the DJ cut to soldier boyz (sp?). Then switched back to the slow song! It was great everyone in the family stopped crying and started laughing. so maybe if your DS would agree to it do the hokey pokey in the middle!

It's been common to every wedding I've been to in Michigan for the last 25-30 years or so.

The bride and groom always dance the first song, then the bride and her father, then the groom and his mother.

baby got back - sir mixalot
i kid i kid, i have no idea,

boys II men Dear Mama is what my best friend danced with his mom too.

I danced with my mom (parents divorced when I was three) to Wind Beneath my Wings by Bette Midler. What a tear jerker that was! ;)

These songs are great - "A Song For My Son on His Wedding Day" already has me in tears. I have 3 DS - 21, 17 and 15. None close to getting married yet but this will have to be the song. I'll need a box of tissues with me though.

Ok I have a DS 16 and i am crying now... LOL:sad1::)

I have thought about my Dh dancing with my DD21 at her weding... but not about DS and I.....

Does anyone know where you can find a "young man" version of the old song Turn Around?

The lyrics go like this:

Where are you going, my little one, little one
Where are you going, my baby, my own
Turn around and you're two
Turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl
Going out of the door.

I used to sing this song to my son (and also my daughter) all the time when he was a baby, just substituting the correct gender in it.

I can only find it recorded in the young girl version so far:confused3
