Hi everyone!
I'm getting married in two years time, the ceremony is in Epcot, in the UK, bit, but as it's so early...what do i do with the guest for the rest of the day?...we are also planning on having a reception at Epcot..possibly in one of the world show cases, but that will have to be after the park closes right?.. so that'll be later on...any ideas anyone?...thanks

I'm not going to be much help because I'm trying to figure out the same thing. We are having a 12:00 wedding and then a lunch reception immediately following. I feel like since most of my guests are traveling so far I should offer something else later in the day too. Otherwise, they came so far for basically 3 hours (or less) of entertainment. I'd LOVE to do a dessert party, but I don't think we can afford it :(

Anyway, I'm subscribing to see what answers you get :rotfl:

Well my number one answer would have been to have a dessert party, if you have it on the same day it counts towards your minimum if you need help meeting it. I believe that you have to be out of Epcot by around 10am. Have you thought of having the ceremony at Epcot and then a brunch or lunch somewhere nearby like Atlantic dance hall or Ariels and then in the evening have a Illuminations dessert party in the world showcase??

SRUAlum I am totally with you!!! I'd love to have a dessert party but think it'll put our budget way over the top!!! Really, that's like three events in the one day. $$$

I know, where we stand right now is
$2500 for the ceremony location
$3000-$4000 for the lunch reception
and then it would be about
$2000-$2500 for the Illuminations dessert party

That's $9000 just for locations and food!!!!

I think we will have an Epcot ceremony and LIving Seas lunch reception, avoiding the huge WP fee, but chartering buses is costly! I definitely want the MK photo session. So I am trying to cut corners.....At this point I have decided to have no wedding party (unless I change my mind) so that saves money on flowers and gifts. Jason is enthralled with the aquariums at the LS, so I think that is a must! I haven't begun really asking questions yet, but I guess here is as good a place as any. Can I have DJ/dancing in the LS or is there no room? I want to have a reception at home too, so I really need to keep WDW smaller.

Someone, maybe Jonette?, had a party at DTD Rainforest Cafe. I saw that the Adventurers' Club does private parties, but no good for kids. I am thinking dessert party, or nothing at all. :confused3 I'd really like to come up with some other option for that evening.

You can have a dessert party for pretty reasonable (at least for Disney standards) It depends on how big your guest list is.

Here is the break down of costs

Viewing fee $12.50 Although if you have your gusts enter through the regular Epcot entrance and meet you there you can save on this and the charter bus.

Venue fees Itoly Isola $575.00, French upper, lower and french arm is $275.00, Morroco $175.00, United Kingdom lower $200.00 upper $275.00

It can be somewhat reasonable if you pick the cheapest menu and have guests meet you in the park.

You can have a DJ at the Living Seas. That's where my DF and I want to have our reception. It depends on how many people you're having but it's a really large room from the pics I've seen so I don't see why you wouldn't have room to dance. One way we're going to save money is not get the dance floor and just dance on the carpet. Every time I have gone to a dance all the girls end up taking their shoes off to dance by the end anyway...so why not let them dance on soft carpet ;)

For our 40 guests it would be $1175 for the cheapest food and the cheapest location if EVERYONE could come in with their own ticket and we wouldn't need to pay the viewing fee or for the bus. However, if even 1 person doesn't have a ticket, that will add $500 to it for the bus and the viewing fee. Isn't there some kind of host fee too? We may wait and see how many of our guests get tickets and then go from there. $1175 wouldn't be SO bad, but we'll have to see where we stand at that point :)

Your guests can meet at the international gateway and you can just pay the viewing fee for those that meet there. I think that if everyone meets there (at the IG) then you have to pay the viewing fee for everyone even if some have tickets unless they have an AP because it is too time consuming to have the host check all tickets. If your guests use their tickets it will count as a full day even though they will only be there for a little more than an hour. I would have guests that have tickets go through the main entrance and have others meet at the IG. You are better to take a town car becase I think brides have to come in backstage and not walk through in their dress. The host fee is $90.00 I think.

Wow, these sound like great ideas!...i didn't realise you could have a lunch reception...so do all of the places offer lunch receptions?...except for the theme parks.

I wonder if it is possible to have just canapes and drinks afterwards at your ceremony location. Then enjoy a day in the park, but return later for a reception?

We had our reception at the American Adventure parlor . It started at 6pm. There was only 17 of us, but we had a beautiful buffet ($73.50 a head for adults and $22.50 for children, though this had added extras like king prawns & crab claws. You can customise the menu to suit you), open bar, magician, caricature artist (my guests really enjoyed this, it was so funny and they got a special reminder to take home with them). Then we all went outside to a special veiwing area to watch the fireworks.
We left at 11pm. We also had a half an hour when the park was shut to take more outdoor photos.
It was wonderful.

Ahh wow...that sounds brilliant!...that's what i was thinking, our ceremony, then our lunch reception...then guests can do what they want..maybe go into the parks?...then a dessert party later...what do u think?

I am having an intimate but here is my plan.

Night Before--Welcome Dinner at 'Ohana

Early morning MK Photo Shoot
9ish Wedding (VR actually)
11:00 Brunch at 1900 Park Fare

Afternoon--everyone is on thier own to do as they please..

8:30ish (or however they scheudle it) Illuminations dessert party

Following morning---farewell/thank you breakfast Chef Mickey's

I hope that helps.
We are doing our VR on Thursday (5/8/08) to give our friends and family the weekend at Disney if they wish.

My plan is to arrive on Tuesday before the wedding....I'm wishing to spend my 4 nights at the GF and then move to another resort for the rest of the time spent.

I think that sounds lovely. And yes most places offer lunch receptions. Have you looked at Disneyweddings.com ? They have a wishbook on there that you can sign up for and it tells you all the venus and there minimums and restrictions etc. You should take a look if you haven't.

How did you end up with a reception at 6:00 that was only $74/person?? I thought all receptions after 2:00 had a minimum of $100/person.

Ahh wow they all sound great!... it's hard job to choose!... but we like the sound of the grand floridan one! :)

I think you have to add in the beverages! Her price was only for the buffet. :sunny:
