I Need Some Suggestions (Long)

Cast of Charaters: me, DH, DD (8 - 2nd grade), DS (5 - PreK)
we live in Maryland

We can't take a vacation due to work May-September

Trips Already Booked:
October 08 - used developer points traded to Mexico
December 08 - AKV (just DH&I for our Anniversary)
October 09 - taking another family to AKV for 5 nights

I guess that I need to get out there that I do not want to sell any of my points. I know the pro's, but the last time I did it dh changed his mind the very next day and said "let's go to Disney" and I ended up in the red.

I do not have a problem trading into II as long as the resort is nice. Again, I know that some don't agree that we get a good deal on this, but I don't have a problem with it.

155 2008 points that have to be used by 5/31/2010
180 2009 points

We are looking to take a vacation 4/9-4/13. Because of the crowd levels at WDW I have semi-ruled out going there. It would cost us 280 for a 2 bedroom at SSR. DH won't stay in anything less than a 2bdrm when we take the kids. We could just do a pool trip and the kids would be fine with not going to the parks.

I also checked into Vero Beach which would cost us 312 for the same dates and accommodations. However, I could trade out into II with a request for Marriotts Ocean Pointe and get a full week for a 2 bedroom for 270 points.

I thought about Myrtle Beach but I am leary about the weather. It will still be too cold to go in the ocean also. HHI has me leary because of the lack of things to do.

I really want to do this trip around Easter 2009 because the kids won't miss as much school. For ds it really doesn't matter because he will only be in Pre-K, but dd will miss a total of 8 days (between Mexico & wherever else if we go for a full week -which is allowed btw, per school rules, but I am not real happy with doing that)

We love great pools also, I even thought about selling our points and going back to Horizons in Orlando just for the pool!

GRRRRRR!!!!!! I cannot go for 10 months without a vacation! I did think about selling our points and going to Great Wolfe, but based on this years Easter rates it would cost us $1,000 for 2 nights, plus drive time, and food, but that doesn't sound like a very good deal to me.

HELP US!!!! Actually HELP ME since I am the one doing the planning. I am just at a complete loss here.

I have one question. How were you able to already book the II trade with developer points? I thought they had to be used 7 months or less out.

I would be skeptical of getting a Marriot trade for Easter week. Your dates span the week of Easter, so I would think an exchange would be tough. I'd probably do SSR and book it 11 months out. There are plenty of things to do outside of the parks. Even taking a tour of all the resorts can be fun, and DTD is always interesting. If you have APS, you could always do parks for early entry only and spend the largest part of the day at the resort and doing non-park things.

We bought our AKV in October. I told my guide that I wanted to convert our II reservation to the developer points. He said that they had to be used within 1 year of purchase. We were actually 1 day outside of a year from travel which he said might be a sticking point. After our guide talking with MS they got it worked out and we were able to use our developer points.
