So

I was wondering if there is a market for well made Disney pin displays? My wife is out of work and we are trying to make the mortgage and tax payments. I already have a woodworking business on the side and would love to combine my love for all things and my woodworking. So if there was boards made to display pins in the shape of hidden Mickeys, maybe the monorail and other Disney things would they sell? I would use the same material as a backer the pin boards are made from. How about glass fronted shadow boxes with mickey heads etched in the glass?

What does everybody think?

Thanks in advance for any ideas or thought you have

I currently keep all my pins in a WDW pin album, but the idea that you have sounds like a great one.

I am currently trying to figure out a way to display my pins where little fingers could not easily remove them.

Thanks for for the replies and thanks to those that PM'd me. I have to finish a lighthouse then a custom table then I will work on these and post a pic for feedback

Thanks again

Dave

They sound great. I made my own from store bought shadow boxes, cork board and fabric. They are genertic but work for now. I would love to have something with more of a Disney look to display them in.

I think there is a market for them, it'd just be a matter of where to sell and pricing. I use a corkboard, but I'd def buy something better if it was out there. Keep me updated please.

That sounds like a lovely way to display pins. My DD-in-law and I discussed how I could display some of my keeper pins. I'm going to make my spare bedroom a Disney bedroom. I'd love to have a hidden Mickey display box.

I should hae a sample done today or tomorrow night (sorry I am working today then the Patriots are playing) The pin board is coming along nicely.

I have a few more ideas for the next one

I will post a pic when done

Thanks for the interest

I use a corkboard, which is none too lovely. I remember that somewhere on the Pin collectors boards (or mabybe it was a DizPin board) people were showing different ways they displayed their pins and some were in lovely wall shelves with glass over them. good luck :goodvibes & I can't wait to see what you do. :thumbsup2

My wife did not get a chance today to wrap the hidden Mickey in the fabric but if she doen't do it tomorrow I will. The mounting board is cut out and I will apply a finish to that tomorrow night as well.

Now I have to decide if I want to ebay them? Or sell them off my own website.

Anybody here have any idea's what would work best?

Thanks again for the support

We just started collecting and are using this for a display. It is an aluminum picture frame that is about a 1/2 inch deep or so. We got it at Hobby Lobby for 50 0/0 off ( about 7.00) and used a piece of colored poster board on top of the card board backer. Just push the pins through and attach the backs. It is just deep enough to allow room for the backs and has a glass covering the pins.

Hello, I bought a 16x20 inch wood custom frame form Costo and made a wood shadowbox 2.5 inch deep, and piece of foam board covered with a black fabric. Tonight I will post picts.

I hope you understand my english but I try to make my best. 8>)

I try to post som picts of my pins frame, but I cant, I have an error "1. Could not find phrase 'error_postcount_too_low_post_links'.

What is this?.

I think you have to have ten posts. I remember having the same issue. Just post a few more times, in here if you want :P.

Good Night:
Finally, here is one photo of my Disney pins collection. The frame (16x20 inch) I bought it in Costo, and I made a wood shadowbox 2.5 inch deep, in the interior I placed a piece of foam board covered with a black fabric. I hope that the photo is seen well.

See you soon :santa:

Sometimes I'll buy a children's picture book of whatever I'm displaying (I collect Lilo and Stitch, Lion King, Chip & Dale, and Enchanted), then cut out one of the pages that is just an illustration (no words). I'll put it in a picture frame of similar size, then put the pins around it to decorate. It's really nifty if you have the pin that matches the picture (ex. Lilo and Stitch on their Big Wheel). I wish I had pictures, but I had to take them apart when I moved :(
