I have experienced some pain in my upper back/shoulder for the past few days and just thought it might be a pulled muscle. For the last three nights I haven't been able to sleep, so I decided that maybe I should see a doctor. Saw him and he is suspecting a bulging disc/herniated disc/pinched nerve. He put me on an antiflamatory drug, Bextra and gave me some Tylenol w/codeine #3 for the pain. DH got an assignment for the next 10 weeks in NYC so I am only going to take the pain killer so that I can sleep at night. (have to be able to drive during the day). Any pain killer pixie dust would be most appreciated.

Wow, bfeller - loads of pain killing - special-mix - pixie dust to you! Did you Dr. suggest heat or cold therapy? Take it easy so you don't make it worse!

Awww Betty, I'm sorry to hear you are in so much pain! I will most certainly send you tons of PD your way so you feel better soon!

Pixie dust headed your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you feel better soon!!!

OUCH! So sorry you have to suffer. And to lose sleep to top it off! Here's good wishes and pixie dust to help ease the pain. Hopefully, it should go away soon.

Lots of Pixie Dust heading your way! You might also ask your doctor for a muscle relaxant. I had a bulging disc in my lower back and I KNOW how bad the pain is. I can't take codein so the muscle relaxant along with the anti inflammatory worked for me. My doctor gave me Vioxx and something I can't pronouce as a muscle relaxant. LOL When I ask for a new prescription I have to tell him, the one you gave me last time. The main thing is to keep your spirits up. I know I got very depressed because of the constant pain for months on end. Thankfully, I did get back to normal. Now that I know the signs of it starting, I go immediately to my chiropractor and start taking my meds. That way it doesn't get too far advanced.

Good luck!

I had lower back surgery back in 95 and as soon as this started I began all the precautions. I did over the counter tylenol, advil, heating pad, ice, shower, whirlpool, and ben gay. I really didn't think about it being a back problem because it was just below my shoulder blade. Yesterday, I noticed a strange sensation in my left arm(no not a tingly sensation, don't worry) but more like I had pulled something.

The doctor said that the Bextra has a pain killer in it too and thought that it would give me immedicate relief. It didn't. So I decided to take the Tylenol w/codeine. I took one at first but it didn't help so I took another around 30 minutes ago(with food). The prescription said to take 1 to 2 tablets and I don't usually like to take anything but with DH out of town and me being in charge of two teens, I just want to feel better. I can tell the tylenol is kiking in because I am having trouble typing the correct letters. Well, I better get going and start resting. Hopefully, I can get some sleep tonight and have a great day tomorrow.

Ouch! So sorry you are hurting!! Loads of pain killing pixie dust on it's way!!

Hoping you are feeling a bit better, Betty. I am on the Bextra, for my knee, and it does seem to help quite a bit. Oh, the aches. {Hugs}

I hope you feel better soon! That sounds incredibly painful.

I took the Bextra around midnight last night and ended up taking two tylenol #3 around 9:00. I woke up this morning around 3:45 with the pain. Got up ate some cottage cheese and drank some milk and took 1 tylenol #3. I couldn't fall back to sleep. I got the kids up and waited until they left for school at 6:45 and then went back to bed and just woke up around 10. Pain is still there. I hope that the Bextra will kick in today. I am planning to go to Allison's first freshman volleyball game and called another mom to beg her to drive. I did great at getting her sympathy. As I said, I am not going to take the tylenol #3 during the day, because of mom duties, so hopefully the pain will die down. I start subbing on Friday so I am hopeful that the meds to their job. Thank you to everyone for the PD. I guess I am just being a big baby but since DH is out of town I need someone to care for me. Did I mention he will gone for the next 10 weeks and will only be home on the weekends. (This is good news because he has been out of work for quite a while)
