I hope someone out there can help and I can figure out how to do this.

I have a small ipod shuffle and I have my itunes library and ipod synced on my home computer which is really old and slow. I bought a new laptop and I want to sync my ipod on it and transfer my itunes library to the new computer, does anyone know how I would go about doing this.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks !
Kim

Back Up Your iTunes Library then use to move to new computer

First make sure you have some blank CDs or DVDs ready to go, then do the following:

BACK UP LIBRARY
1. From the iTunes File menu, choose Backup to Disc.
2. From the iTunes Backup dialog box, choose
* Back up entire iTunes library and playlists (to backup everything)
3. Click Back Up and wait for the DVD drawer to open.
4. Add a disc each time iTunes asks for one. If your library won’t fit on a single disc, iTunes will ask—one at a time—for as many discs as needed, and write your library to them.

NEXT Restoring your iTunes Library from a Backup Disc
1. Insert the first backup disc into your disc drive.
2. In the dialog that appears, click Restore and iTunes copies all content from your backup disc to your iTunes library. If you want to replace duplicate files already in your library with content from the backup disc, select Overwrite existing files before clicking Restore, otherwise you’ll end up with two copies.
3. Sit back and relax while iTunes restores your media.

Thanks but my computer's disk driver is messed up and it won't open. Can you put it onto a flash drive?

When I to to File, I can only backup one playlist at a time. Where do you see backup all?

Using flashdrive

1.Plug your flash drive into your computer's port. Launch iTunes on your computer by going to your "Start" menu and finding it under "Program Files." Double-click on the program name, and it will open. Go to the "Edit" menu within iTunes and click on "Preferences."

2.Look at the "Advanced" tab to see where exactly your iTunes library is stored. It will be an XML file. Make a mental note of it or write it down so you can locate it in the next step.

3. Open your library by going to the "Start" menu, selecting "My Computer," clicking on the appropriate drive and browsing until you find it.

4. Open a second window in "My Computer" and click on the icon for your flash drive. Drag and drop your library to the drive. This could take a long time, depending on the size of your library. Wait until it finishes to continue.

5. Go back to your iTunes window so you can copy over your iTunes settings. Click on "File," then "Library," then "Export." Name the file and tell the program you would like to store it to your flash drive. To do this, simply pick the drive's name from the list. This file you're exporting now does not contain your music, just the library settings, ratings and other info you have stored to your library. It will allow you to make a seamless transition when you move your iTunes to another machine.
