I have posted on the other boards here on this site. I am having a hard time trying to decide on which hotel/resort to choose. I don't really know much about orlando/kissimmee/lake buena vista areas. I have found what looks like some really good deals on some hotel/resorts they say 3miles to disney or 5 minutes to disney, but i am really wondering just how far some of them really are. I would like to be close to shops & resturants if at all possible. I don't want to be in the middle of no were. I have read that these are near old town what is old town. Oh well I am going to list a few of them if some one could help me to find out. i would be so greatfully thankful. There are 7 of us 5 adults 2 kids. I am trying to keep it not to costly also.

I really can't help you out on this one but my friend stay at Star Island (a room with a mini kitchen) and she said she really enjoyed her stay. She said the resort was clean and the pools were nice. Maybe you should do a search on each and visit... www.tripadvisor.com and do a search to see what other people had to say about their stays at the hotels you need info on. Good luck!

I stayed at Star Island last May. It is near a TGI Fridays (at the entrance). The only advice I can give you about the resort is if the pool is important to you ask for a place close to it. We were pretty far away. It was no big deal and we were able to work around it. Star Island is nice. If you turn Right out of the parking lot you will find Publix Grocery Store and if you continue on for about 2 miles or so you will find a Wal-mart on the right. There are some fast food resturant between Star Island and Disney. If you have any questions I would be happy to help. Just e-mail me. We drove down and were on a budget. We really enjoyed this trip!

It might really help if you look on a map (tons online at Orlando Tourist sites)and get an idea where these places are before you decide. The top 3 are in Kissimmee, Old Town is also in Kissimmee and Cypress Pointe is in Lake Buena Vista so Cypress Pointe is probably the closest although Kissimmee isn't too far away. How to explain Old Town, hmmm, to me, its just part of a very busy strip in the town. There is a small area with a few rides and some neat shops. For myself, I would go with a condo before a hotel if the prices are close. We're staying at Cypress Pointe this trip and most of the reviews are very good. Do a google search on Kissimmee and Lake Buena Vista, there is tons of info out there just to get your bearings.

Check out the reviews at Mouseplanet.com. They are great at giving you an idea of true distance to WDW and what the hotel is like.

tjp78....

I have stayed @ Cypress Point and would stay again, other than a Disney hotel, on hotel row..it is one of the closest. There are 2-3 other timeshares on this block..but I dont know their names. I dont know about the others.

CP is a very nice timeshare..includes full kitchen, big rooms and 2 blocks from the "hotel row" entrance to DTD. Supermarket on next block...(not Goodings, which is too expensive..dont go there). Restaurants all nearby, italian, steaks, TGIF's...etc
Very easy access to all WDW sites!!
