Ok, here is the deal. My family and I have a chance to do a real quick and cheap trip to DL. I want to go before my kids start school and I narrowed down the dates to August 24th to the 28th. The airfare is pretty expensive comming out of Chicago (ORD) to SNA and I'm finding it cheaper to get a package deal hotel and air combined. I also need some advice on what hotel to stay at and what you think about them.

Airfare alone will cost me $1500 if I book it alone with no Hotel. I've tried Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz and they seem to be all pretty close. Here is what I found and all are nonstop flights. Packages are for 4 nights - 5 days and is for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Hojo w/ airfare - $1200.
Coast Anahiem Hotel w/ airfare - $1100.
Ramada maingate w/ airfare - $1000.
Anabella w/ airfare -1100.00
Hoilday Inn at the Park - $1100.00

There is a few others for around the same price range. I can't afford to stay on site but I want a nice hotel/motel that is a good value and clean also with a good pool for the kids. What do you think of these prices and why is it so cheap with a hotel. I wanted to stay at the CC Inn but the airfare is so much higher when bought by itself. How crowed will the DL be and is this a good time to go? How is the Anabella or the Ramada main gate? Should I just stick with the Hojo and be done with it? Will we enjoy the Hojo and is it really better than the others listed? Sorry for so many questions but this trip just fell into our lap and I don't want to pass it up. It may be the only time I ever get to go to DL. It would be cool to say I visited WDW and DL in the same year. Thank you for the help! pirate:

Of the choices I would go with Coast or HoJo. Both are within walking distance, the HoJo might be a little closer but neither is what I would call "right accross the street."

The parks will still be crowded but slightly less then earlier in August or July. The one thing I can garentee is that it will be HOT. Bring lots of sun screen. And plan to go back to the hotel for a mid-day swim to cool off.

Not sure what airport you wanted to leave from, but Southwest in Midway usually has some really good deals flying into LAX. I got one way tickets (we're taking the train back) for $80 per person. I think even round trip, if you book early enough, you could get a really good deal.

I wanted to leave out of O'Hare (ORD) and fly into John Wayne Airport (SNA). I have priced it out of Midway (MDW) to LAX and I saw no real savings. SouthWest wanted 1600. dollars round trip. I only live 30 minutes from O'Hare and Midway is a bear to get to in traffic. I would like to fly into SNA due to the closeness of the airport to DL resort. LA traffic kind of worries me especially during rush hour when we arrive. Chicago is a beast to drive in durring rush hour and I'll bet LA is worse. :earseek:

Ive only stayed at the HOJO and totally recommend it- I would say that Ramada and Hojo are about the same distance- No clue where the Coast is and the Anabella is behind DCA so about 2 blocks to the entrance
